Job Description
The Business Development Manager reports to a Senior Manager of Business Development. This position sources, fosters and maintains relationships with sellers and buyers of distressed debt within the charged-off, consumer debt marketplace. This position is the conduit between buyers and Encore / MCM for conveying information related to the purchase or sale of portfolios and provides ongoing support for acquired portfolios. This position identifies Business Development opportunities, and drives the flow of information within different departments relating to those opportunities, coordinates due diligence and evaluation materials, prepares bidding, closing and funding materials and participates in the negotiation of purchase and sale agreements. This position is also relied upon for insight into market supply, demand and competitive threats.
Responsibilities:
• Participate in discussions with buyers and sellers to attract new business and maintain effective business relationships as directed. Travel required to perform this responsibility.
• Work with Sr. Manager to gather due diligence, review evaluation material, gather market intelligence and drive the flow of information between Business Development, Decision Science, Channel Integration and other departments as necessary.
• Management of purchase and sale processes including identification and implementation of process improvements.
• Monitor industrial and corporate development through the analysis of information obtained from a variety of sources including due diligence visits, industry / trade publications, company sources and conference / trade shows. Travel required to perform this responsibility.
• Maintain companies, contacts, and opportunities in Salesforce.com and ensure all are accurate and up to date.
• Responsible for preparing and maintaining department reports related to purchases and sales.
• Present purchase opportunities to the company’s Investment Committee for bidding approval.
• Coordinate closing and funding processes, and facilitate hand-off to Post-Purchase Support and Operations by serving as a process consultant/advisor to other departments on an as needed basis.

Education:
Required: Bachelor's Degree.
