Job Summary
Join the team that collaborates across Travelers to provide actionable and objective insights to inform business decisions and enable Travelers to capitalize on change and trends. Enterprise Market Research (EMR) provides internal clients with objective, credible insights to help profitably grow the business, build the brand and positively position Travelers in the marketplace.
This position is responsible for conducting and managing primary market research studies in support of business unit priorities and decision-making. Accountabilities will include the development of research proposals that address business issues, recommendation and development of research approaches (both qualitative and quantitative), research design and management, reporting and analysis and in-person presentation of research findings. This person will also be responsible for turning research insights into actionable, business relevant recommendations. The role will work in collaboration with members of the research leadership team and will report to a Sr. Director of Customer & Agent Insights.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of market research or related experience.
Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
• 5 years of experience in primary market research preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, mathematics, psychology, or comparable analytical degree preferred; MBA, Market Research Degree/Certificate or other advanced degrees preferred.
• Strong understanding of research methods (quantitative and qualitative), survey design, and a working knowledge of statistical and sampling methods and their appropriate applications
• Strong data analysis skills, including ability to analyze and summarize data and information from survey or qualitative data – often synthesizing across multiple data sources
• Strategic and critical thinker with demonstrated problem solving skills
• Well-developed project management skills, including the ability to manage and deliver effectively on multiple priorities on-time and within budget
• Demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships across functional areas
• Ability to effectively interact with and influence management audiences
• Research vendor experience preferred
• Business-to-business and/or property casualty insurance experience desirable, but not required
• Experience in agile and innovation research environments and capabilities is desirable, but not required
Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
Data Analysis & Synthesis: Intermediate ability to analyze and summarize data and information from survey or qualitative data Insight Development: Intermediate ability to turn observations derived from data and analysis into actionable insights
Project Management: Intermediate ability to manage research projects from the scoping phase through client delivery, managing to a budget on projects utilizing a vendor
Research Expertise: Provide intermediate subject matter expertise in research methods (quantitative and qualitative), survey design, and a working knowledge of statistical and sampling methods and their appropriate applications
Business Software Skills: Intermediate PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook skills
Analytical Software Skills: Intermediate knowledge of use of Qualtrics, SPSS, Access, SAS, Ruby, or related software
