The Director of Supplier Management will have supporting responsibilities for managing and developing the Supplier Management team’s Supplier Managers that support the end to end operational workflow in supplier management activities. This position will work directly with business and technology teams to execute activities managed by the Supplier Management team. Effective leadership, process optimization, communication, reporting and stakeholder coordination are essential delivery elements to ensure internal customer satisfaction, team member satisfaction and financial success. Additionally, the Director of Supplier Management will own all Supplier Management process and workflow documentation, training materials and operational procedures associated with the support services provided to the company. This role also supports and maintains current view of industry and supplier capabilities, market intelligence and financial analyses to client. Finally, this role leads the development of market insights from cross-client sourcing activity and collaborates with the Procurement Category function as well as supporting future roadmap pipeline planning and coordination with multiple teams.
Responsibilities
• Manage a team of FTE, Intern and Contingent Staff Supplier Managers
• Monitor work assignment of the Supplier Management team, reallocating work based on priority, team skills and developmental goals/objectives.
• Standardize workflows for activity tracking, documentation storage, renewals, contract routing, asset management, invoice approvals and supplier operations.
• Automate tasks for productivity & cycle time optimization
• Train new resources on processes, procedures and activity management
• Plan and execute development of all staff to improve technical and behavioral competencies.
• Identify and execute on streamlined solutions for process improvement and cycle time reduction
• Maintain current documentation and standards and templates for use by Supplier Management
• Review documentation and executed activities content for accuracy, standards and completion with focus on attention to details
• Report on goals, outcomes and associated cycle time, error rate and enhancements monthly
• Follows the strategic direction set by management when establishing near term goals.
• Acts independently to execute according to methods and procedures.
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience:
• Experience in managing resources
• 10+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Management, Procurement & Purchasing Strategy, Processes and Tools.
• Experienced in Procure to Pay, SharePoint, DocuSign, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience in process improvement and enhancement execution
• Flexibility and adaptability to effectively adapt to new scenarios and changes.
• Promote corporate objectives and change initiatives, ensuring that the team is supporting overall company direction and growth
• Support resources on stakeholder and project management, with a special emphasis on collaboration, customer focus, delivery excellence, continuous improvement, negotiations and contracting
• Experience in implementation and management of sourcing strategy and vision
• Negotiation of project, outsourced service and asset-based supplier contracts
• Knowledge of legal terminology and language related to supplier agreements.
• Proven negotiation, contracting and project management skills.
• Demonstrated success in designing presentations for senior management.
• Demonstrated ability to inspire others and build effective teams, as well as being a strategic thinker and an excellent communicator.
• Identify & Implement cost productivity improvement opportunities in spending across a wide array of leading companies
• Initiate and Lead sourcing projects, including all key steps such as strategy development, supplier negotiation, award recommendations, business case presentations and supplier contract execution
• Pursue and develop senior level stakeholder relationships at priority accounts via stakeholder relationship plans
• Mentor and coach Supplier Management resources on stakeholder and project management, with a special emphasis on collaboration, customer focus, delivery excellence, continuous improvement, negotiations and contracting
• Represent the Supplier Management team as a category expert
• Define Standards for Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) through contract execution. Lead execution of RFx through contract signature.
• Proactively manage supplier compliance with SLA and contract requirements.
• Enforce Software and Hardware Asset Management compliance
