What You'll Do/Need
The Accounting Manager is primarily responsible for assisting with team oversight, monthly reporting, system implementations/improvements and budget/forecast monitoring, and works closely with the Construction team to ensure budget and other financial information is accurate.
Position Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate daily activity for a portfolio of construction projects
• Provide coaching and direction to project accountants
• Assist in reviewing monthly close work papers, pay applications and other reporting prepared by project accountants
• Oversee and drive improvements to the monthly construction close process
• Present financial overviews and recommendations to accounting/finance leadership
• Assist with tax credit compliance and investor support
• Prepare and/or post complex journal entries
• Lead special projects and support the overall goals of the team
• Lead the coordination with auditors, tax advisors and others for annual audits, tax returns, cost segregation/certifications and other reporting
• Review monthly work papers including bank reconciliations and accrual entries
• Support internal and external reporting requirements
Position Requirements
• Bachelor degree in accounting
• 8 years of experience in accounting, real estate construction field
• 2 years of experience managing a team
• Knowledge of GAAP and ability to independently research and advise on complex accounting topics
• Strong computer skills in Word and Outlook and proficient in Excel
• Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail
• Strong leadership skills and passion for continual development
