The primary duties of the Benefits Analyst are:
• Take responsibility for the reporting and monitoring of enrollment, transactions and other reports and processes. Propose changes as necessary.
• Maintain knowledge of internal and vendors’ systems; create reports and ensure system accuracy and appropriateness for Benefits staff and associate use. Resolve any billing or data differences and serve as lead contact on such issues.
• Monitor vendors’ activities and timelines. Become actively involved in key projects such as plan design changes, Open Enrollment and budget planning.
• Design and implement basic benefit programs, including financial, compliance, implementation, communication and budget consideration.
• Working knowledge of all regulatory/compliance guidelines. Understand, monitor and make recommendations on all regulatory/compliance guidelines. Assist with maintenance and resolution of compliance issues.
• Take full responsibility for the administration, vendor relations, budget and communications of at least two benefit plans. Serve as the “subject matter expert.”
• Manage timelines and projects, such as plan design changes, Open Enrollment, budget planning and changes/tasks due to regulatory changes.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Two – six years of benefit administration experience with a large employer with increasing levels of responsibility, including project management and analytical experience.
• History of continuing education, course or seminar work such as CEBS classes or related seminars, to ensure current knowledge of benefits laws and practices. Capacity to be accountable for this knowledge and apply it to the plans: ongoing tasks, communications, plan design and other considerations.
• Ability to understand and process basic data to understand and report on financial aspects of benefit plans.
• Strong working knowledge of multiple qualified benefit plans, including definitions, plan provisions, administration and communication processes.
• Capacity to learn basic benefit laws and plan provisions and to apply them in ongoing task and communications.
• Proven experience in budget preparation and monitoring for benefit plans.
