Job Summary
The Senior Vice President Investment Research is responsible for leading our investment team for the 40|86 $30 billion fixed income portfolio. This Leader will contribute to maximizing the return on investment of the assets, consistent with the approved risk structure, compliance with regulatory requirements and will lead the team driving research activity.
Key Job Responsibilities
The SVP will be responsible for motivating their high performing team, attracting / growing talent inside the business, managing the vision’s delivery, and reporting results.
• Apply a practical style that includes timely decision making, operating rigor, strong execution, and a collaborative work ethic.
• Experience leading a large team of high performing, investment “play to win” professionals. Experience managing department budgets, team development, coaching and mentoring.
• Perceptive ongoing evaluation of pertinent securities markets and macro-economic trends and developments, and the ability to translate this information to action or recommendation.
• Leverage external data sources to augment internal experience. Benchmark best practices.
• Take a lead role in architecture of systems and data services provided to team. Drive the review of next generation investment technology systems.
• Oversee the development of a variety of analytical / reporting tools designed to measure progress and identify risks in the investment portfolio.
• Participate in the governance framework, advise and present to key internal and external stakeholders on activity and strategy as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Demonstrated strategic and analytical skills; ability to assess processes and outcomes by establishing solid metrics of performance.
• Experience managing a strategic business priority that requires working across multiple functions.
• Ability to maintain a positive team environment while investment recommendations are reviewed and challenged by leaders and team members.
• Familiarity with various asset classes, risk and performance metrics and leading economic indicators.
• Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally within the business to understand portfolio risk and develop/validate data sources that drive investment strategy.
• Drive to explore circumstances, events, and people as they may affect markets broadly or specific investment opportunities
• Ability to work cooperatively, prioritize and multi-task within in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
• History of success creating analytical processes and investment methodologies.
Job Requirements
• 8+ years in a senior executive leadership role
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or Business preferred with 15+ years total experience in investment strategy and management including working with board levels.
• Chartered Financial Analyst
• Solutions focused and flexible; able to drive change and lead others to excel.
