API Designer/Modeler, AVP
Job Summary
Responsible for leading a team of staff for developing and deploying complex integrated solutions aimed at modernizing, consolidating and coordinating the independently designed applications within and across the enterprises of core systems. Leads the team that consults with internal business clients to offer solutions using best software and engineering practices. Involved in modeling information sources, flows and critical paths, as well as understanding how information is turned into knowledge and the relationship of knowledge and how it supports and enables key business processes. Facilitates the development of supporting knowledge architecture and standards. Works with operations staff to define an operational framework that defines, develops and implements delivery systems, systems management, policies and security frameworks to ensure delivery of knowledge and information to appropriate groups.
Responsibilities
• Understand and contribute to the maturity and development of the Bank’s API offering. Define and strategize API Design & API Management. These include API Governance, API Lifecycle Management, API Promotion, API Security, API versioning, and API virtualization.
• Drive standardization by designing and defining the Bank’s canonical data model (JSON based) for REST API.
• Define web API service architecture for internal & external / mobile systems.
• Conduct standard review REST API interfaces/contracts for development teams.
• Provide a SME support in design activities for web service and integration solutions.
• Design Rest API and security implementation architecture based on project requirements
• Perform administration of an SOA Governance and API Management platform.
• Design & review SOAP based Web Service contracts using Bank’s XML Canonical Schemas.
• Report usage/operating status of an SOA registry and repository to a manager.
• Monitor logs/availability and take proactive actions as needed.
• Guide and assist developers in web service asset management.
• Train developers on use of API Management tool.
• Provide input into design and development of new or enhancement of existing interfaces to ensure their maintainability from the perspective of API offering.
• Develop solutions using IBM WebSphere Message Broker, IBM WebSphere MQ, and Workflow.
• Familiarity with business message formats such as SWIFT, EDI, ACH, BAI, ISO 20022 etc.
• Programming experience with industry standard programming languages and environments (Java, C, C++, shell scripting etc.).
• Strong analytical skills;
• Programming knowledge of RDBMS.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in S. T. E. M.
• (4 years) Designing high performance REST APIs for multiple devices with right level of granularity and loosely coupling from consumers to avoid breaking changes and minimize the need for versioning.
• (2 years) working with API Management processes using at least one API Management tool such as IBM API Connect, MuleSoft Anypoint, Amazon API Gateway, etc.
• (2 years) working with SOA governance processes using at least one UDDI type registry such as WSRR, CentraSite ActiveSOA or Akana, etc.
• (4 years) all SOA and Rest API standards such as REST, SOAP, WS-*.
• (4 years) WSDL, XSD, JSON Document, RAML, Swagger, XSLT, XPath, XQuery.
• (2 years) Experience with AWS API Gateway, native services (Lamda, EKS, Beanstalk, etc.) and AWS security model.
• (3 years) Experience in implementing various API Security Authentication and Authorization Models like OAuth, API keys, JWT OpenID
• (4 years) OOP languages such as C#/.Net, Java
• (4 years) Working with ESB (IIB, Mulesoft, webMethods), MQ & JMS.
• (4 years) Canonical data modeling (XML & JSON) and schema definition.
Knowledge of -
• webMethods products such as CentraSite, Mediator a plus.
• Designing APIs based on Protocol Buffers or GraphQL a preference.
• Standard industry models and frameworks (e.g. IFW, BIAN) a preference.
• Familiarity with HATEOAS a preference.
• Mobile application development a plus
