Reports To: Senior Director, Sourcing and Procurement
Location: Maynard, MA
This position is responsible for managing all activities related to direct procurement and acquisition of materials and services to support the company plan at optimum cost, quality and delivery. Key responsibilities include supplier selection, supplier set-up, pricing negotiations, purchase order management, supplier relations and contract management. Procurement requirements include engineering materials, corporate services, production materials and capital equipment.
Key Essential Functions
• Research supply base, source vendors, and negotiate price, terms, and delivery of a wide variety of products and services
• Review purchase requisitions and engage with suppliers to obtain procurement information including price, availability and delivery schedule
• Maintain supplier information and generate purchase orders to meet demand requirements from various departments
• Track purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of products and execution of services
• Utilize ERP tools and best practice to manage inventory of materials and parts needed to complete NPI builds
• Monitor stocking program levels and place fulfillment orders as required
• Process non-conforming material, including, but not limited to generating return material authorization requests. Investigate and reconcile accounts payable discrepancies. Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
• Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies to optimize procurement spend
• Issue Requests for Information and Requests for Quotations and analyze them for final sourcing and business award decisions
• Negotiate supplier contracts, including commercial terms of purchase to ensure all documentation is in place to protect company interests and key deliverables
• Liaison between functional corporate business groups and service providers in coordinating and facilitating projects
• Prepare reports on purchasing activity including cost savings, on-time delivery, spend profiles, benchmarking and other department metrics
• Identify areas of opportunity for improvement. Recommend new systems and procedures, which improve the company purchasing performance and efficiency through continuous improvement
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Minimum Qualifications, Experience, Skills, Education and Certifications
• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in supply chain management, business administration, or similar field, or the equivalent qualification in training and experience
• At least five years of professional experience in purchasing management
• Strategic agility and creativity with analytical and effective problem solving skills
• Extremely detail oriented with ability to recall details and historical background on projects and contracts
• Demonstrated ability to accept new ideas, engage in creative, innovative and systemic thinking
• Strong ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines
• Ability to listen, influence and lead in a constructive & productive manner
• Extensive knowledge of ERP systems, Word, Excel and Outlook
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Project, PowerPoint
• Other Considerations/Qualifications
• Experience in manufacturing, continuous improvement activities, APICS certification, CPIM a plus
• Special Physical/Travel Requirements
• Occasional travel up to 5%
