The Human Resources Senior Generalist provides a comprehensive range of human resources (HR) support to RSM’s Baltimore office. This position is responsible for administering and implementing high-quality, impactful HR programs and policies, including employee relations, talent development, corporate training, talent acquisition, retention, and change management initiatives. This role is also a member of the broader Mid-Atlantic HR team and Southeast Region HR team.
Essential Duties
• Project Management/Processes -responsibilities for core HR processes including but not limited to performance management, talent management, talent acquisition, learning and professional development, and employee/partner engagement
◦ Assists in planning and managing complex HR projects; negotiate and meet deadlines, in addition to defining, analyzing, measuring and evaluating results
◦ Executes on project plans generated by HR leadership
• Talent Management
◦ Assists with coaching leaders. Helps developing plans for career growth, industry experience, leadership opportunities, etc.
◦ Leverages existing reports (e.g. recognition, feedback) to gather, organize data, conduct basis analysis and develop conclusions
◦ Partners with Regional HR LOB leads on regional rollouts, data analysis and workforce plans
• Employee Relations/Compliance
◦ Assists with coaching and advising employees and leaders on performance and interpersonal issues
◦ Drafts and delivers moderately complex Employee Counseling Reports (ECR) and may terminate employees with guidance and coaching from HR leaders
◦ Assists HR leaders and/or may lead investigations
• Ongoing Talent Development/Salary Administration
◦ Successfully partner with team leads to routinely deliver on the Firm’s ongoing talent development including: meeting coordination, materials preparation, feedback and coaching follow-up
◦ Facilitate team discussions to accurately assess performance of our employees using performance descriptors
◦ Under direction of HR leadership, performs analysis of compensation market position and provide guidance and suggestions to maintain market competitiveness and reward and recognition for employees
• Training Delivery
◦ Plans, coordinates and executes new hire orientation; working closely across the region for appropriate scheduling
◦ Facilitates local and/or regional training and develops ad hoc local presentations as needed
• Talent Acquisition
◦ Participate in campus recruitment (e.g. pathways, intern and entry-level hiring) for assigned campus(es). Assist campus recruiter as needed with on-campus event planning and management, candidate interview coordination, candidate care and communication throughout recruitment process
◦ Continue to generate new ideas and ways to better partner with talent acquisition for a successful new hire pre-boarding and onboarding experience
◦ Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required
• 3-5 years of human resources generalist experience, ideally within a professional services industry
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills with strong proficiency in Excel
• Strong business acumen; understanding of industry and partnership model; matrix environment
• Strong ability to operate independently in execution of tasks
• Ability to identify patterns of basic risk and liability, to resolve routine issues, and escalate when necessary
• Exhibit current working knowledge of federal, state, local regulations/laws
• Ability to collaborate and work as an effective team member when contributing to local and regional HR projects
• Strong ability to be agile and adapt to change
• Effective organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• Ability to operate consistently in a manner that supports the "One Firm" culture and values
• Strong communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal
• Ability to operate with a sense of urgency
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
