Overview
The Senior Accountant – Mortgage Banking Accounting will be responsible for processing daily mortgage banking activities to the ledger and reconciling daily cash activities associated with mortgage banking activities. These responsibilities may change at any time, depending on the needs of the Department.
Job Description
• Record monthly P&I cash flows, ensuring actual cash agrees with projections
• Calculate and process monthly accretion/amortization accounting entries received from Capital Markets
• Process the monthly interest accrual entries
• Process any other MBS transactions that occur during the month
• Prepare monthly reconciliation of MBS balances to financial records
• Communicate with Treasury to ensure adequate funding of repurchase agreement requirements
• Prepare necessary activity and balance reports for internal and external clients
• Prepare monthly reconciliations of repurchase agreements to financial records
• Calculate monthly interest and margin requirements
• Maintain inventory of loans encumbered by Intercompany repurchase agreements
• Update intercompany repurchase agreements subledger
• Prepare monthly reconciliation of intercompany repurchase agreements to financial records
• Prepare necessary activity and balance reports for internal and external clients
• Process monthly counterparty remittances
• Process periodic repo sales and repurchases
• Prepare monthly reconciliation of loan repurchase agreements to financial records
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned
• Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization’s desired culture and values
Ideal Candidate will have the following:
• Excellent software skills and Microsoft Office computer skills, including Excel & Word.
• Supervisory and leadership skills.
• Must be highly proficient in Excel and Word
• Must be a team player with strong attention to detail and able to work independently
• Proven track record at delivering timely and accurate information in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical skills and sound judgment
• Financial Services and, if possible, mortgage industry experience preferred
• Strong business acumen and ability to interface with executive management
