Fidelity is seeking a Principal Production Support Database Administrator who will work closely with the Enterprise Cloud Computing (ECC) Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) team and the Cloud Data Services team to provide production database support for the ALM application ecosystem. Some of the ALM applications include: Artifactory, BitBucket, Jira, Confluence, uDeploy, Sonar, Stash, API Repo, and X-Ray. The databases that are used to support these applications are Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. The Production Support Database Administrator will be the team’s expert on all aspects of the production database administration support of these databases. Responsibilities include; database administration, production support, monitoring, performance tuning, backup/recovery, patching, upgrades, logging, and administrative support of production and non-production environments.
The Team
The Enterprise Cloud Computing organization is responsible for enabling automated cloud services that are used by application developers within the various Fidelity Business Units to quickly and securely deploy cloud applications into the various external cloud providers such as AWS and Azure. Within Enterprise Cloud Computing, the Cloud Data Services team is focused on the specific data service capabilities for cloud data stores, data migrations, big data lakes, data analytics, and machine learning. The Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) applications support the various cloud services that have been automated by the Enterprise Cloud Computing organization for use by the Fidelity Business Units.
As a part of ECC’s Cloud Data Services, the production database support team is responsible for the production database support of ECC’s Application Lifecycle Management tools. The primary objectives of the team are to ensure the production availability and support of these databases, to ensure performance SLAs are being met, and to support on-time patching and upgrades. Additional objectives of the team are to support the conversion of these databases from Oracle to PostgreSQL, and to support the migration of these databases to the AWS Cloud if required. The Principal Production Support Database Administrator will work directly with the ALM architects and developers in support of their applications. They will also work collaboratively with ECC architects, ECC developers, ECC security, and ECC operations to ensure that applications follow the required Fidelity operational and security policies.
The Expertise You Have
• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree a plus
• 7+ years of experience in enterprise level database design, development, deployment, support
• Expertise in the production database administration and support of Oracle and PostgreSQL
• Expertise in the implementation, performance tuning, and management of Oracle and PostgreSQL
• Expertise in supporting n-tiered applications built on the Oracle and PostgreSQL platforms
• Expertise with identifying and addressing production database performance bottlenecks
• Expertise with tuning Oracle and PostgreSQL DB parameters to optimize database performance
• Experience with PL/SQL, stored procedures, triggers, functions, transactions, locking, and blocking
• Experience with Oracle to PostgreSQL migration/upgrade experience and cloud migrations
• Oracle DBA Certifications required
• PostgreSQL DBA Certifications a plus
• MongoDB DBA Certifications a plus
• AWS and Azure Certifications a plus

• Providing experienced database administration support tasks for production and non-production
• Diagnosing production problems that arise, determining root cause, and providing resolutions
• Monitoring production proactively, responding to alerts, and participating in on-call support calls
• Performing application DBA functions including SQL tuning, database design, and developer support
• Installing, configuring, performance tuning, and maintaining Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
• Implementing and testing clustering, replication, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions
• Supporting ongoing database maintenance, housekeeping, installations, patching, and upgrades
• Establishing database standards for operations, upgrades, migrations and onboarding of new tools
• Writing clear and concise technical documentation to maintain standards and procedures
• Collaborating with DBA resources across the firm and in various geographical locations
• Collaborating with the ALM application development teams on database design considerations
• Participating in governance bodies to approve changes to the ALM application ecosystem
• Coaching and mentoring database technical resources across the inner-source community
