Description
The Senior Risk Specialist position within the Risk Management Division’s Central Risk and Control Team will be responsible for control monitoring and testing for one or more functional areas within Compliance and ERM, as assigned. Primary responsibilities for this role encompass the following:
• Acquire, develop, and demonstrate knowledge of business processes and control monitoring/testing skills.
• Deliver timely completion of control testing activities for one or more functional areas within Compliance and ERM, as assigned, ensuring activities are sufficiently scoped, adhere to quality and documentation standards, and appropriately contribute to a determination of control environment effectiveness.
• Assess, communicate, monitor and report on control monitoring/testing progress and outcomes.
• Through partnership with senior members of the team, assess and action upon opportunities to optimize control design and testing approach (to ensure key controls are assessed in an efficient manner).
• Support the timely, comprehensive completion of Compliance Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSAs), including process flows, risk/requirement and control identification, and monitoring/testing of key controls.
• Contribute to production of control assessment related reporting for management (e.g., schedule, outcomes).
• Participate in projects and initiatives, as assigned.
• Build and maintain partnerships with key business partners and stakeholders across the organization.
The following skills are considered to be key competencies for this role:
• Fundamental awareness of internal controls and risk assessment methodologies.
• Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
• Intellectual curiosity – the ability to interrogate business practices and processes to promote sound risk management for the business unit while understanding how the business unit’s risk management activities and profile fit within upstream and downstream risk management processes.
• Holistic thinking – the ability to examine a business process end to end to assess risk and control needs and adequacy.
Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
• Risk Management experience gained through working in Financial Services
• 1+ years in the financial services industry working in areas such as Internal Audit, Compliance, and/or Risk Management.
• Bachelor’s Degree Required

Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
