Description
The VP, Product Developmentwillreport to the VP, Product Management and will be responsible for partnering across the enterprise to explore adjacent market opportunities, that would supplement our primary distribution channels and product suite. The role will represent the Annuities organization partnering with leaders across Worksite Solutions Group, Individual Solutions Group and Customer Office, helping them assess the viability of annuity-based offerings in solutions they are developing to solve customer needs. The role will need to determine the consumer marketability, the potential sales opportunity, the internal and external development needs, etc. The successful candidate will have direct annuity product experience and will work closely across business functions that will include sales, marketing, actuarial, legal, compliance, information technology, and risk management.
Responsibilities:
• In support of requests from the Prudential U.S. Businesses, provide thought leadership and deep annuity expertise to develop consumer solutions that combine the power of Prudential’s multiple businesses, solve customer needs, and expand our product suite.
• Work with the broader Product Management team and key stakeholders across the organization to determine product viability which will include creating sales estimates, development costs, consumer demand, and alignment with the overall business strategy.
• Present product concepts and opportunities to senior management for review and approval.
• Engage with the VA and Fixed Market leaders in concept design and ultimately partner with them to support product creation and implementation.
• Understand the competitive landscape and market trends of various financial industry products and product lines which include pricing, benefit structure, and marketing approach in order to identify product opportunities.
• Establishing relationships and credibility with leaders across Annuities, Retirement, Group Insurance, Individual life, and the customer office; actively discussing product opportunities and concepts.
• Working with senior leadership to stress the importance of initiatives in order to gain acceptance and ultimately resource prioritization for product initiatives.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of experience in areas such as product development or product management
• 10+ years of experience with Annuity products
• Proven track record of developing, defining, and prioritizing best in class insurance/annuity products to take to market, increasing sales and profitability.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication/presentation skills
• Self-motivated, proactive and visionary leadership
• Highly organized, collaborative, and adept at handling multiple, changing priorities
• Skilled at resolving conflict and negotiating effectively and tactfully
• Knowledge of financial services products and industry. Annuities experience strongly preferred.
