The North American Institutional Team (NAI) is responsible for new business development and relationship management for the largest plan sponsors and institutional consulting firms in the US and Canada.
The NAl team works with clients and prospects across all aspects of the institutional marketplace including; Corporations, Foundations/Endowments, Government Entities, Taft-Hartley and Insurance Providers. Team members are located throughout the United States in cities including; Atlanta, New York, Boston, Louisville, Dallas and San Francisco.
The Relationship Manager is responsible for supporting Invesco’s institutional sales and service efforts to proactively build our institutional business through strengthening and expanding client relationships. This position serves as the support contact for institutions with over $3B AUM in pension assets (with a Senior Regional Director as primary) and primary support for institutions with between $1B-$3B AUM (maintaining relationships and cross-selling into clients); for institutions below $1B AUM, the Relationship Manager will be reactive to opportunities and be primary support for clients with a small-plan service model. Relationship Managers are assisted by Analysts. Relationship Managers partner with sales to develop a deep understanding of our client’s priorities and provide value-added investment services. Relationship Managers work closely with the Head of Relationship Management, Sales, Consultant Relations, Analysts, and across the firm.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
• Coordinate the business development and client relationship efforts as segmented for institutional clients
• Support these clients in setting strategy and developing a detailed business plan for each account
• Proactively build our understanding of each account’s organizational structure, decision- making authority, and investment priorities
• Execute business plans for accounts over $1B AUM by continuously evaluating client needs, designing an organized and efficient approach to relationship management, and providing value-added services
• Manage reporting for accounts over $1B AUM and assist in compiling presentation materials with investment teams for client meetings
• Establish and maintain regular communication with accounts over $1B AUM.
• Coordinate client requests, promptly and accurately
• Actively measure/monitor success of each account’s business plan execution
• Consistently seek ways to better serve accounts and improve internal coordination
• Organize and prioritize time and resources to meet goals and expectations
• Understand plan sponsor needs, take a consultative sales approach to deliver investment design ideas, and investment solutions
• Promote investment product sales through frequent plan sponsor meetings and discussions covering investment strategy, performance, new products, and market developments
• Establish, build, and sustain assigned plan sponsor relationships, positioning Invesco as a trusted partner and advisor
• Work closely with Investment Centers, Client Portfolio Managers, and Product Management as needed
• Record/document all communications/activities to create an “institutional” memory of each client relationship
• Discuss on a quarterly basis with the Head of RM all cross-sell initiatives, including DC, Liquidity, and Investment introductions
• Provide guidance to Analysts and other junior staff (no formal supervisory responsibility)
Qualifications
Work Experience / Knowledge:
• 5+ years of institutional client relationship management experience required.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage strong working partnerships with complex client relationships and possesses strong relationship management skills.
• Proven success in maintaining client relationships and cross-selling investment products/strategies is required.
• Prior experience working with clients and prospects across all aspects of the institutional marketplace, to include Corporations, Foundations/Endowments, and Government Entities. Prior experience in Southeastern U.S. is preferred.
• Project management experience

• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience
• Advanced degree or CFA preferred
