Description
The Variable Annuities Product Development Director will drive the development of solutions that modernize our variable offerings in core distribution channels. This individual will be responsible for leading cross-functional initiatives to identify and explore new capabilities and develop a go-to-market plan incorporating the path to a minimally viable offering and its future iterations.
Responsibilities
• Effectively collaborate in a matrix environment both within the Product Management ream and beyond to execute new product development initiatives
• Lead a cross-functional team to identify challenges, define solutions and execute measurable results
• Drive variable annuity product development for new initiatives, defining product specifications, optimizing go-to-market strategies and clearly communicating goals, responsibilities and desired outcomes
• Approach product development with a view of complete end-to-end customer experience
• Understand the competitive landscape and market trends of various financial industry products, identify gaps and incorporate intel into new offerings
• Develop and maintain a "test and learn" development environment for all new initiatives
• Closely partner with Sales and Service to gain insights to inform features for new offerings and provide consultative product support for key firm relationships
• Closely partner with Compliance, Law and Risk in implementation of new products and regulatory requirements
• Support expansion to new distribution channels through the development of solutions, understanding financial impacts and future product needs
• Participate in consumer needs-based solution discussions across the enterprise, providing annuities subject matter expertise
• Establish relationships and credibility across the business to effectively communicate product updates to all levels of the organization
Qualifications
• 10 years relevant experience in Financial Services field required
• A minimum of 5 years experience in a retirement related field
• Proven success in implementing or creating strategically compelling business cases for product development projects that deliver results to meet business goals
• Very strong strategic thinker and leader, is proactive and takes initiative
• Self-starter - can assess what work needs to be completed and how to get it done
• Knowledge of financial services products and industry
• Excellent influencing, organizational, facilitation, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without authority
• Effectively collaborating with multiple levels within the internal organization as well as investment professionals and wholesalers
• Strength of convictions and ability to influence and champion change
• Ability to effectively manage several dissimilar projects and prioritize
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• BA/BS degree required
• Series 6 license required within 180 days from hire date
