Job Description
The Relationship Manager is a "Client Experience Owner" and responsible for growing and retaining existing relationships and developing new relationships by ensuring the provision of an exceptional client experience based on the proactive conveyance of actionable insight and advice backed by appropriate product delivery.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Meet annual sales goals by developing new business opportunities through the existing account basis and through external contact with the professionals with whom the employee interacts.
• Act as the Wealth Clients primary point of contact for all banking and non-banking services (coordinates services).
• Acquire new clients through referrals from existing clients, centers of influence and bank staff.
• Create a client relationship strategy for each customer relationship and present this strategy to the client.
• Set client contact plan including pre-call planning, post-call debriefs, relationship reviews, and ensure an exceptional client experience.
• Maintain a complete record of sales administrative information.
• Refer appropriate business to other areas of the Bank.
• Understand the competition's capabilities and gaps to better position Valley National Bank Wealth.
Requirements
Required Skills:
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently as well as being a team player.
• Must have a good understanding as to the operations of the Bank and its subsidiaries, the financial services offered by WM, banking and branch activity, lending, finance, accounting and auditing, human resources, operations as well as how those departments interact.
• Must be committed to the growth of the company and have the ability to sell additional wealth management products.
• Must be computer literate with the ability to work comfortably within the windows environment, proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and other essential software.
• Must have excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Must feel comfortable making presentations to both small and large groups of customers, prospects and employees.
• Knowledgeable in complex financial deals, financial statements and financial planning including tax and estate planning.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
Required Experience:
• High School Diploma and a minimum of 7 years of experience in the sales of financial products and services as offered through Wealth Management.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
