Edelman Financial Services and Financial Engines are seeking an experienced professional to join its team as a Senior Tax Accountantin Fairfax, VA.
The individual is responsible for assisting the VP, Tax and the Tax Manager in producing accurate company tax returns, developing proactive processes and procedures for the tax department, monitoring and complying with tax and accounting deadlines, and being responsive to business stakeholders on issues regarding the tax implications of ongoing and proposed transactions.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare Corporate and Partnership federal returns and state and local returns including entity income, composite, franchise, excise, and various other returns
• Prepare quarterly and yearly tax estimates for corporate and partnership entities
• Prepare components of the year-end accrual review and support the Tax Manager with the computation of the year-end and monthly tax provision
• Compute and record provision-to-return differences
• Maintain partnership equity and capital account schedules
• Support computation of accurate and timely tax distributions to the company’s investors
• Prepare account and tax reconciliations, tax adjustments and partner taxable income allocations
• Assist in the analysis of corporate accounting and tax issues
• Assist in resolution of federal, state, and local tax notices and audits
Requirements:
• 5 years of accounting experience; 2-3 years of 'Big 4' tax background preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or similar discipline required
• Master’s degree in Accounting or Tax preferred
• CPA preferred
• Experience with Partnership and Corporate tax
• Experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource tax software program, a plus
• Demonstrated skill with US federal and state Partnership and Corporate tax
• Noted skill in accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) and the ability to apply the guidance in assisting with the preparation of tax provisions
• Strong aptitude for financial systems, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent judgment to appropriately prioritize and manage multiple deadlines
• Able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and work with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Critical thinking, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills required
• Position requires a high level of confidentiality
• Dependable/punctual, acting mentor and role model
