Job Description
Currently, we are seeking a talented Paralegal II to join the Corporate team based in Newport Beach, CA.
JOB SUMMARY:
With supervision and direction from and review by senior paralegals and attorneys, this role performs the following:
• Conducts legal research as needed regarding matters impacting the Company’s ongoing business objectives.
• Participates in ongoing projects, as needed and works with attorneys and clients to develop, prioritize, and monitor achievement of project goals.
• Maintains a current understanding of the Company’s business
• Drafts and/or reviews documents for legal adequacy and compliance in furtherance of the Company’s business objectives
• Analyzes legal issues, investigates facts, and performs legal research to assist counsel in determining whether to bring, defend, participate in, or settle a particular legal action.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This individual will work with a team of insurance lawyers and paralegals in the Law Department with primary responsibilities in legal research, litigation support, project management and life insurance and annuity administration.
• This person must also have strong analytical skills.
• The candidate must also seek to build relationships throughout the organization to become a resource for the Law Department and internal clients, and have strong communication skills to provide recommendations.
FACTORS FOR SUCCESS:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college/university or completion of ABA approved paralegal program
• 2+ years of paralegal experience
• Experience with litigation support and subpoenas, including the use of e-discovery.
• Proficient with Westlaw, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Sharepoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational skills; must be comfortable multi-tasking and prioritizing work streams to meet deadlines.
• When appropriate, takes initative and is able to work independently with mimimal guidance.
• Proven ability to analyze and recommend solutions to problems.
• Demonstrates high ethical standards.
