The Product Filing Specialist (Specialist) primarily facilitates successful annuity product submissions to state insurance departments to secure approval, which supports annuity sales and speed to market initiatives across all annuity product lines (fixed, index, variable). With oversight, the Specialist prepares and executes all aspects of regulatory submissions by creating and following well thought out filing plans, compiling all required information and forms for submission, reviewing all documents prior to submission, submitting complete requirements and forms through electronic filing platforms, and resolving state regulator objections in a timely manner while also minimizing company risks during the review process. The Specialist works with Implementation Specialists to ensure that contract forms are installed in systems as approved by each jurisdiction and in accordance with product design to ensure a positive customer experience and also provides support on regulatory audits and examinations.

POSITION Requirements:
• Carries out all state regulatory submission activities for all jurisdictions;
• Provides status to team, management, and other impacted areas during review progress;
• Maintains accurate, detailed records in established format for all assignments;
• Provides contract forms to Implementation Specialists to ensure all forms are installed as approved and in accordance with product specifications;
• Coordinates application development and execution across annuity product line;
• Supports review and analysis of new federal and state insurance statutes, regulations, and bulletins to determine the impact to our annuity products;
• Collaborates with manager, Contract Analysts and Product Filing Specialists to ensure that annuity contract forms are in regulatory compliance;
• Develops and maintains in-depth insurance/annuity regulatory knowledge by staying abreast of state and federal insurance statutory and regulatory changes and bulletins using industry resources;
• Utilizes specific industry tools such as SERFF and NILS;
• Provides assistance with researching, documenting, and communicating compliance-related issues;
• Provides assistance and support for audit and examination requests;
• Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
• Minimum two to four (2-4) years of previous experience in the insurance or financial services industry preferably in regulatory, compliance, legal, operations and/or contract development/filing, product management, or product development;
• Education equivalent to bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in related work experience;
• Ability to develop skills to analyze, assess, investigate, and interpret regulations, statutes, and bulletins related to contract forms, the regulatory submission process, and the regulatory environment in order to ensure compliance;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely;
• Highly motivated team player with ability to work independently with little supervision;
• Highly self-driven with ability to independently manage workload;
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships, achieve assigned goals, exhibit ownership of assignments, and carry out assigned responsibilities;
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering quality results and adjusting to changing needs;
• Ability to quickly execute time-sensitive submissions and/or responses to objections;
• Proven strong time management skills;
• Excellent organization skills;
• Excellent attention to detail skills;
• Proficient in Microsoft applications, including MS Word and Excel;
• Ability to coordinate, take accurate notes in meetings, and produce well-written meeting notes;
• Ability to adapt and adjust to change.
