About the role
We are seeking a forward-thinking marketing and communications leaderto help build the identity and awareness of the JLL Spark Global Venture fund and our portfolio companies. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, bring a roll-up your sleeves attitude, and be excited to setup a world-class marketing communications program.
Responsibilities
External Communications
• Conceive and implement programs to enhance the reputation and awareness of the venture fund, establishing JLL Spark’s reputation as a top-tier investor in the property technology (“proptech”) space
• Lead ongoing JLL Spark PR/media relations. This includes creation and implementation of external communication plans and programs encompassing both traditional and digital media and publications to publicize key JLL Spark announcements and new investments.
• Support PR efforts of portfolio companies, in line with overall JLL Spark marketing and communication strategy
• Manage and update JLL Spark web pages, leading content production and content refresh, as appropriate, working with JLL corporate digital team
• Lead digital strategy (including paid, earned and owned channels) for JLL Spark, working with JLL corporate marketing and communications team
• Work closely with the JLL Spark “growth team” to help the funded portfolio companies grow their business. The growth team is made up of experienced product marketers, business development people and other experts in the field who are responsible for how each funded tech startup reaches potential customers and users, and how their products are ultimately adopted.
• Identify premier speaking opportunities for investment partners. Assist with content development for external speaking opportunities and for other presentations, as needed.
• Manage PR agency, keeping them accountable to our goals and ensuring clear sight of metrics and results achieved
Internal Communications
• Lead regular internal communications activities and programs to existing JLL Spark-funded companies. This includes sharing and celebrating portfolio company news, including showcase examples of how the startup solutions are being used.
• Manage internal communications within JLL to drive portfolio company growth. This includes working with JLL corporate communications team to identify opportunities and key messages to communicate back to key JLL stakeholders/business leaders around JLL Spark priorities, investments and activities to ensure the piloting and usage of innovative products from JLL Spark into JLL’s client base of real estate owners, operators and occupiers.
• Working with JLL corporate communications team, ensure all JLL employees are aware of the value of the Spark portfolio and how they can easily refer valuable startups they encounter to Spark
Candidate profile
With 10+ years overall PR/Marketing/Communications experience, this individual will be a proven marketing and communications leader and strategic thinker, with experience working in the technology space. Key competencies required for the position include:
• Proven ability to drive PR for a venture fund and/or technology startups/entrepreneurs
• Bachelor degree with 10+ years of experience working in PR and marketing communications, ideally at a startup or in progressive/fast-paced organizations
• Deep, hands-on experience in strategic communications, including message development and strategic positioning
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize and organize information and then present findings and recommendations in a clear, concise way
• Proven ability to cultivate relationships with and advise leadership-level stakeholders, with appropriate level of confidentiality when required
• Broad business acumen plus knowledge of disruptive technologies and their relationship to business
• Experience working with tech media and/or tech-oriented business media
• Demonstrated leadership skills, initiative and creativity
• Excellent organizational and project management skills and high level of attention to detail
• Experience leading and achieving results in a collaborative work environment, as well as ability to work independently
• Current on trends in brand journalism, content development/management, social media outreach, internal, executive and external communications, self-publishing channels, and communications measurement approaches
