Reporting to the Director, Global Talent Development, the Associate Director, Global Talent Development operates as a US-based member of a global team responsible for implementing and advancing learning and development strategies for Sun Life leaders and employees. This role is highly consultative, involving partnership with local HR Business Partners and HR team members to balance US learning priorities with global talent strategy, initiatives and offerings. You will also design and deliver learning for in-person, virtual and emerging learning experience modalities including social learning.
Preferred skills
• Strong knowledge of learning strategy and practices, leadership development, adult learning methodologies and approaches, and talent management more broadly
• Strong consulting and project management skills
• Able to influence others, and build mutually beneficial relationships across HR and within the business
• Learning design experience and an aptitude for embracing learning technology, and exploring/implementing emerging trends in talent development
• Strong writing and communication skills and the ability to effectively package and present information to business leaders and HR professionals
• Ability to work within complexity and ambiguity and to organize and accomplish objectives independently and proactively, as well as through others
• Ability to adapt to multiple demands, shifting priorities and changing business conditions
• Interpret business issues and recommend best and emerging practices in the area of employee and leadership development
• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills with excellent needs analysis and program evaluation skills
Responsibilities
• Build and foster relationships with US HR team members and leaders from multiple locations across the US and in Ireland
• Champion local US learning needs while balancing and helping to drive the Global talent strategy and learning architecture
• Gather and share insights with the Global Talent team regarding US business priorities and learning needs
• In partnership with Global Talent Development Senior Consultants, develop and facilitate virtual instructor-led offerings and classroom training (locations across the US and Canada)
• Leverage data and insights from client testimonials to continuously improve existing learning solutions and identify opportunities to "test and learn" with new approaches
• Contribute to design and execution of learning impact measurement strategy
• Program manage implementation of 360 feedback tools globally, including a review of the existing program and recommendation for future state
• Program manage the learning components of the rotational leadership development programs (RLDP) in the US and Canada
• 10-15% travel required
Qualifications
• Post-secondary degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
• Ten to 15 years of experience in organizational development, human resources, talent management or learning
• Strong experience and background in designing and facilitating talent development programs and solutions, preferably on an enterprise-wide level
• Experience as a learning partner, working to represent and deliver on local learning needs while ensuring efficacy of a global talent strategy
• Experience designing and implementing talent assessment programs, high potential development and / or executive development programs
• Experience in diagnosing business needs and providing solutions and advice in the areas of employee and leadership development
• Previous experience working within and across teams, preferably on an enterprise-wide level, and an ability to work effectively in a virtual team environment
• Master's or post-graduate diploma in adult education, business administration, organizational development, industrial organizational psychology or related discipline an asset
• Knowledge of Sun Life Financial globally an asset
