Job Description
This Senior Accountant will test AIMMA processes and build out requirements for Egret implementation including: open general ledger accounts, request bank accounts BNY (Promontory), Fedline, FSB Client bank accounts, design and document accounting processes and create reconciliation templates for the deposits, interest, custodial agent fees, cash/control accounts, set up access to various systems.
This role will also cross-train on existing processes and train existing staff on Bank tasks to provide flexibility and reduce risk as new work is onboarded.
Long term this role will perform and manage daily accounting activities for the bank products.
Responsibilities
• Perform accounting processes for a variety of transactions in accordance with GAAP internal and external policies, procedures and authorizations. Prepare journal entries dealing with more complex accounting functions. Review, analyze, and resolve more moderately complex issues in accounting transactions. Follow specific and detailed accounting procedures. Coordinate and prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, for inclusion in 10Q & 10K, statutory/regulatory filings.
• Own balance sheet accounts. Research and clears outstanding reconciling transactions. Research may need to be done using various sources such as system reports or data generated from outside the department and company (i.e. external custodians). Provide oversight to reconciliation of general ledger balance sheet accounts. Analytical review of a monthly reconciliations, ensure appropriate controls, and resolve variances.
• Provide functional advice and training to business partners and less-experienced accountants. Participate as a subject matter expert on business projects. Provide metrics to drive business changes and objectives. Usually specializes in accounting for a particular line of business such as insurance, financial planning, mutual funds, banking, etc. Prepare and reports the weekly cash flow projections to Treasury, and Investments Dept.
• Improve processes to ensure that integrity, control and optimal efficiency are established while minimizing financial risks. Develop and implements process improvement initiatives that support the department goals and service levels. Prepare aging schedules, calculates bad debt and reserve balances and provides analysis.
Required Qualifications
• 3+ years accounting experience.
• General ledge and spreadsheet experience.
• State and regulatory filing experience.
