The Payroll Specialist is primarily responsible for processing payroll in ADP for over 500 employees on a bi-monthly basis. The ideal candidate must be a detail oriented self-starter with the ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and produce accurate results in a high volume environment.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a part-time position at 30 hours/week Monday through Friday with potential to grow into a full-time position.
Responsibilities
• Duties include and are not limited to:
• Processing payroll in ADP for over 500 employees on a bi-monthly basis, including processing non-recurring/manual payroll adjustments as communicated by Human Resources
• Processing special payroll runs (e.g., annual bonus payment)
• Generating manual paychecks, as needed, including final/termination paychecks
• Processing employee expense reimbursement reports as part of the payroll process
• Administration of the timekeeping system in ADP and assessing the accuracy of timesheets
• Reconciliation of time reported between ADP and the firm’s Practice Management system
• Generating recurring reports from ADP
• Processing 401(k) deferral uploads with the plan administrator (Fidelity)
• Processing FSA contributions with the plan administrator (National Benefit Services)
• Preparing payroll and benefits journal entries in the general ledger system (Microsoft Dynamics GP)
• Providing 401(k) audit support
• Assistance with the calculation and processing of leave of absence payments to employees
• Assistance with the review of employee expense reports
• Assistance with processing forms W-2 on an annual basis
• Performance of special projects, as needed
• Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
Requirements
• High school diploma required. Higher education and/or relevant college courses a plus
• At least one year of related work experience; experience with ADP highly desirable
• Willing and able to work overtime as needed to meet payroll processing deadlines
• Willing and able to work on weekends only as needed to meet very tight payroll processing deadlines (approximately 2-3 weekends per year)
• Proficient general computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
• Basic Microsoft Excel skills required. Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills preferred
• Excellent organizational skills - must be detail oriented and able to produce accurate results
• Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication and comprehension skills
• Ability to exercise extreme discretion and maintain confidentiality
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP a plus
