Finance Division
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firms books and records, and by contributing to Firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team. The Morgan Stanley Tax Department currently has a career opportunity in New York City for a Tax Executive Director in the International Tax Compliance, Planning and Provision Group.
Tax Department
The Tax Department reports to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 200 employees worldwide. The Tax Department is responsible for global tax compliance, tax accounting, business unit tax advice and tax planning for the Firm.
The Morgan Stanley Tax Department is searching for a Tax Executive Director who will be responsible for managing U.S. international tax compliance and planning processes. The position provides a unique platform to develop a detailed understanding of Morgan Stanley's businesses while increasing functional and practical knowledge of US income tax planning, accounting and reporting concepts.
The role will involve extensive communication within the Firm's global tax department as well as non-tax stakeholders. The Morgan Stanley Tax Department is searching for a Tax Executive Director who will be responsible for managing U.S. international tax compliance and planning processes. The position provides a unique platform to develop a detailed understanding of Morgan Stanley?s businesses while increasing functional and practical knowledge of US income tax planning, accounting and reporting concepts.
The role will involve extensive communication within the Firm's global tax department as well as non-tax stakeholders.
Core responsibilities will include:
• Develop, lead, and execute the Firm's U.S. international compliance program including changes due to new U.S. tax rules.
• Review and prepare Form 5471's, 8865's, 8858's, 1118 and other U.S. tax filings for foreign affiliates.
• Liaise with external regulators, including the IRS, on audit items.
• Coordinate and communicate income tax compliance and planning matters within the Firm.
• Develop compliance framework for new U.S. international tax compliance requirements including significant partnership with technology and data systems.
Qualifications
Job Requirements
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. international tax including, compliance and planning for a U.S. based multinational.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills, including the ability to simplify and communicate complex business information.
• Superior work ethic with high level of accountability.
• Staff management and development experience.
• Bachelors or Masters degree in tax or accounting.
• Approximately 10-15 years of hands-on experience in U.S. international income tax compliance and planning in a public accounting firm or corporate environment. Financial services background preferred
