Support Operational Risk & Controls assessment for Life & Retirement’s (L&R) business encompassing life insurance, annuities, retirement services and brokerage business segments.
• Support specific L&R lines of business (LOB) to assess key operational risks and ensure appropriate
monitoring and escalation procedures are in place to effectively manage and mitigate risk.
• Support implementation of AIG’s Operational Risk framework in compliance with AIG’s Operational Risk Policy including risk identification, risk measurement, risk mitigation and risk reporting and escalation.
• Support a risk-focused and substantive risk and control self-assessment (RCSA) program across a specific L&R LOB by working with management to analyze processes and identify and document key risks and controls. Ensure the RCSA program reflects an integrated approach including top operational risks as well as emerging and key departmental risks.
• Monitor changes in a specific L&R LOB organization, processes, systems and business plans to ensure currency of the risk assessment process. Oversee RCSA ratings assigned by Department managers for accuracy and consistency by evaluating the results of various assessment processes, key risk indicators (KRIs) and risk event data.
• Support analyses of large or pervasive risk events in order to identify true root causes and design corrective actions. Ensure lessons learned are communicated to assigned L&R LOB leaders.
• Through analysis of assessment results, key risk indicators and risk event data, identify the most significant operational risks or trends for assigned L&R LOB and evaluate the effectiveness of risk mitigation projects and corrective actions.
• Evaluate external developments (including industry trends, changes in law and regulation, operational risk events suffered by others) identifying new risk areas and ensure their evaluation through scenario analyses when appropriate.
• Support special projects to evaluate and mitigate operational risk across L&R. These may include, for example, focused reviews of specific internal control issues, new business ventures or infrastructure/system changes.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have previous audit, operational or compliance risk experience is desirable.
2-5 years related work experience.
Education: 4 year college degree in Accounting, Finance or other applicable areas. CRM, PRM, CIA, CPA or other certifications a plus.
