Description
Position Summary:
• Position directly responsible for integrity of loan closing, due diligence, documentation, compliance, loan booking, and closing files for assigned CRE customers and loans.
• Responsible for delivering an outstanding experience to customers and business partners, while carrying out sound risk management practices, within a dynamic business development environment.
• Works with customers, outside counsel and external consultants, Credit Administration, CRE and other business segments Sales Managers, Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, and Loan Administrators.
• May assist with loan administration, workflow coverage, and portfolio administration for other business segments.
Position Description:
• Responsible for initiating and driving the loan closing process, coordinating the activities, decisions, and communications amongst the CRE deal team with the customer, outside counsel, and third parties.
• Responsible for the integrity of loan closings, due diligence, documentation, compliance, loan booking, and closing files for CRE customers and loans. Including: review and sign closing documents, ensure the loan structure and terms conform to credit approval and bank policies, and requirements to close are in place, identify and appropriately mitigate exceptions.
• Makes decisions that influence risk management and customer relationships for loans that are typically greater than $5 million, with custom, complex terms that may involve construction, acquisition, bonds, syndication, tax credits, credit derivatives, etc.
• Reviews and approves attorney-prepared and borrower-submitted legal documents, and other items needed to satisfy closing conditions such as title commitments, third-party contracts, project budget / sources and uses of funds, verification of owner's equity, flood determinations, property insurance, etc.
• Prepares escrow instructions and closing statements to properly reflect priority of lien and record transaction fees and expenses.
• Attends closings with customers and outside counsel, signs documents, and authorizes closings as officer representing Huntington. May represent bank group on syndicated or arranged transactions in which Huntington is Lead Bank / Administrative Agent or Documentation Agent -- on loans typically greater than $30 million.
• Assists CSA team with loan administration, workflow coverage, trouble-shooting, research, and projects.
• Responsible for documenting and timely clearing post-closing items and collateral exceptions; manages closing checklist, certifications, and closing files according to business segment standards.
• Responsible for proactive identification of potential risks and adverse situations that may impact the bank's interest. Communicates and/or escalates risks, pursues corrective action and drives solutions, always with the goal of enhancing the customer experience.
• May support other business segments' real estate loan closings. Develops and maintains positive relationships with business partners, customers, and third parties such as outside counsel, title companies, construction consultants and contractors.
Management / Leadership:
• Represents Huntington at closings, in bank groups, and with document signing authority
• Organizes and oversees the work flow of other colleagues, including loan pipelines, closing assignments maturity dates and deadlines
• Approval authority for certain transactions of other colleagues, as delegated
• Demonstrates confidence, assertiveness, professionalism, and ability to interact with all levels within the organization in a professional manner
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office and other internet resources
• Excellence in customer service, highly motivated, focused and goal oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grammar and demeanor
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, planning and follow-up
• Ability to work independently on multiple tasks without compromising quality
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree required.
• A minimum of 5 years of Commercial Real Estate closing and/or documentation experience required.
