Responsible for the provision of high quality credit underwriting and portfolio maintenance to support designated business units. The incumbent acts as the primary liaison between Real Estate Industries (Institutional Markets, Regional, Community Development Finance and Commercial Mortgage Division) and first line Risk & Control, addressing credit related issues, including but not limited to, risk appetite, credit operations, underwriting processes, regulatory requirements, supporting model management, self-identified issues, exam coordination and issues resolution management, adherence to policies, procedures, and underwriting guidelines, credit culture & awareness, credit policy support and credit strategy support. The incumbent plays a key role in balancing asset growth with credit quality as part of achieving financial objectives.
Major Responsibilities:
• Partner with the assigned line of business and strategy team overseeing the development of credit related strategies focused on achieving business growth objectives, ensuring alignment with risk appetite objectives. This will require coordinating between the impacted business units, model management, credit operations, credit policy, procedures and underwriting guidelines development, quality assurance, credit culture and training, and documenting the effort to support independent review.
• Lead efforts to identify credit risk related issues and coordinate issues resolution management.
• Support internal and external exams and issue resolution management.
• Ensure credit policies, procedures, underwriting guidelines are updated, appropriate and align with the Bank’s risk appetite.
• Collaborate with and support with the quality control and assurance group to ensure policies, procedures and guidelines are interpreted correctly and tolerances are established and maintained.
• Partner with the various business units to develop and monitor appropriate metrics to ensure high quality underwriting and portfolio quality is consistently maintained across business units.
• Ensure that portfolio management is consistent with Bank standards and policies, is conducted on a consistent and thorough basis, and effectively manages and monitors risk of the portfolio.
• Ensure business units adhere to Risk Management requirements and support the development of enhanced risk management reporting.
Qualifications
• 10+ years of Commercial Real Estate credit management and/or credit administration experience.
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Strong analytical, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal capability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle several complex tasks simultaneously.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
