Description
Analytics & Decision Sciences (ADS) at Santander is focused on leveraging all of our data assets to optimize profitability, grow customer relationships, improve experience and enhance data standards. Within ADS, there is the Data Strategy & Standards organization. This team is focused on: ensuring consistent data quality; establishing data standards and governance; integrating data both operationally and analytically; and certifying data used for remediation, external board reporting and policy and process decisions. Candidate should be an experienced and motivated individual to serve as a Retail Banking Data Steward. Data Stewards at Santander are guardians and decision makers for specific Risk Management and Retail Bank data assets. This individual is responsible for gathering and documenting metadata, understanding how data migrates across the Retail and Risk platforms, improving data quality, analyzing process controls, completing root cause analysis and coordinating activities related to problem resolution.
• Develop a standardized approach to capture and document metadata and issues across all assigned data domains
• Using a process-driven approach, assume ownership for the identification of key data elements (KDEs) that drive critical business activities.
• Lead working groups and manage routine projects related to data governance
• Develop and implement robust data quality monitoring and controls required to secure data certification within a complex data environment
• Engage with assigned areas within the business to develop and enhance knowledge and subject matter expertise
• Identify data quality issues and causes through profiling reviews and root cause analysis. Work with the CDO/technology to prioritize and resolve.
• Submit new data elements, change requests and certification requests to business owners and the CDO
• Develop and deliver status updates and presentations to senior management and stakeholders
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelors or Equivalent
• Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in any of the following disciplines: data usage, process analysis, process improvement, technology development/support.
• SAS, SQL, or other comparable query language
• Strong understanding of Financial Services/Banking and/or Risk Management data
• Advanced analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to understand business and technical functions, processes and information quickly.
• Experience working with the data systems supporting our businesses, including experience writing queries and analyzing related queries is highly preferred
• Solid understanding of data governance, standards, and practices
• Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to effectively engage with peers, stakeholders, and senior management
• Highly organized as this role requires succeeding in an ever-changing operating environment.
