Job Summary
The Sr. Data Scientist - Link Analysis Lead and Product Manager oversees the Link Analysis work within D3 Claims Analytic Oversight. The goal of this work is to fight fraud by using analytics to detect suspicious relationships between entities in the claims process. The Link Analysis Lead will provide functional and technical strategies for enabling business decisions with actionable data and analytics. This individual will contribute to both the leadership and technical aspects of link analysis projects.
The Link Analysis Lead exhibits influence on peers, the broader team, and outside stakeholders. They are a key driver in identifying and implementing process improvements that lead to increased efficiency and quality. They understand business needs and corporate goals and apply strategic thinking to develop measures to reach such goals.
Technical responsibilities include the development and recommendation of new machine learning predictive modeling algorithms, the development of tools that use link analysis/machine learning/predictive modeling and graph databases to make business decisions, and searching for and integrating new data (both internal and external) that improves our modeling and machine learning results (and ultimately our decisions).
The role is also responsible for assisting in the recruitment, selection, mentorship and development of junior data scientists.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Link Analysis team and the design and delivery of Link Analysis products
• Provides strategic direction and takes accountability for requirements, procedures and standards
• Manages the portfolio/inventory of all Link Analysis projects with minimal support to ensure projects are implemented on time, at or under budget, and with high quality
• Works directly with business partners to develop, communicate and execute on projects
• Demonstrates influential leadership and leads by example when handling ambiguous and difficult situations
• Works across the team to ensure coordination of the project portfolio with other initiatives
• Acts as liaison with business partners and technology for Link Analysis projects, identifying and driving resolution to issues impacting project quality and timely implementation of initiatives
• Represents team in project meetings to communicate results, issues, timelines, etc.
• Provides regular reporting for assigned projects
• Influences business partners and senior leadership on the effectiveness of graph databases / link analysis / predictive modeling to solve their business problems
• Uses, communicates, and enforces best practices to develop statistical, machine learning techniques to build models that address business needs
Job Qualifications
• Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, finance, or economics preferred
• Proven experience in using statistical modeling and/or machine learning techniques to build models that have driven company decision making
• Ability to lead a project team of various skills levels.
• Ability to interact with the business and drive product strategy
• Proven experience in managing and manipulating large, complex datasets
• Proven experience using graph databases and link analysis to solve business problems preferred.
• Proven ability to code and develop in languages such as Python, Perl, Java, C
• Proven knowledge of advanced modeling techniques
• Ability to train, develop, and teach more junior modelers
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex concepts
• Ability to provide written and oral interpretation of highly specialized terms and data, and ability to present this data to others with different levels of expertise
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
