Job Description
The Commodity and Sourcing group strategically sources and manages a combination of commodities/categories in support of Sourcing and Procurement Solutions (SPS) objectives. By utilizing the Procurement Lifecycle (assessment, selection, contract, and performance management), SPS will deliver procurement value and enable clients to deliver on their commitments through careful contract negotiating and securing value added discounts for our clients.
A Sourcing Associate Consultant supports Sourcing & Procurement Solutions (SPS) to enable internal client business strategies. The Sourcing Consultant contributes to a high performance environment by performing routine duties associated with multiple assignments and/or sources and manages low to medium complexity/ risk commodities and spend categories. Under the direction of others, this role assists in all aspects of Strategic Sourcing Methodology, coordinates projects, and completes other assignments to enable results. Responsibilities for this role also include maintenance and continuous improvement of the policies, procedures and reports to govern internal usage of low to medium complexity spend categories.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Category Management
• Assist in assessing sourcing and category opportunities by gathering historical spend information and patterns, competitive position, supplier/category industry profiles, economics, market conditions, and expiring contracts to make recommendations based on these findings.
• Gather client requirements; spend information and other key data elements to support sourcing opportunities.
• Gather and coordinate information and perform structured analysis of category, industry, and market conditions.
• Evaluate company purchasing patterns and effectively summarize information.
• Utilize the standard sourcing process to source, negotiate, and contract for low to medium complexity projects.
• Assist in the development of reports to support category, supplier, compliance, or sourcing needs.
• Coordinate components of the sourcing process, complete logistics and collaborate on cross functional reviews with Legal, Privacy, Security Governance, Risk Management, and internal clients throughout the sourcing and contracting process for low to medium complexity sourcing initiatives.
Supplier Management
• Understand and apply the overall supplier management framework.
• Assist in monitoring ongoing supplier performance and escalate issues when appropriate.
• Help drive the Supplier Performance Management (SPM) process for assigned low to medium criticality category supplier(s) by evaluating spend, documenting and reviewing supplier SLAs and supplier performance.
• Assist in coordinating SPM components, including contract inventory, segmentation, risk assessments, contingency planning and validation of right pricing.
• Participate in and contribute to business review meetings with suppliers and client stakeholders to measure supplier performance, contract adherence and issue resolution.
• Assist in documenting lessons learned and help progressively enhance supplier management activities to optimize supplier performance.
• Ensure appropriate SLA performance standards are in place with assigned commodities and appropriate reporting occurs.
Other Responsibilities
• Assist in utilizing and ensuring all appropriate documentation and internal control/compliance standards are met (process, templates, tools, contract database, etc.).
• Draft communications, presentations, sourcing related materials, contracts, and other documents as necessary
• Answer requests from internal clients and external suppliers.
Job Qualifications
Experience and Educational requirements include:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field
• CPSM (CPM) and/or CPCU a plus
• 2-4 years business experience, including experience in sourcing and procurement, finance, or relevant industry
• Intermediate knowledge of procurement techniques and principles
◦ Sourcing process, negotiations, contracting, supplier management, supplier diversity, industry/trend analysis, metrics/measurement, etc.
◦ Procurement tools (i.e., financial reporting tools, contract management tool, reverse auctions, etc.)
◦ Knowledge of assigned commodity industry / marketplace
• Sourcing for low-to-medium complexity commodities
• Experience with RFP development and execution
• Experience with supplier negotiations
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, to interact with both internal customers and external suppliers
• Project management and organizational skills
• Analytical capabilities, including cost models
• Customer focus
• Awareness of corporate and SPS goals
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Experience with SAP procurement and financial modules a plus
• Demonstration of continued development (e.g., initiation of CPSM designation)
