CDO Domain Coordinator, Vice President
Job Summary:
The CDO Domain Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the effective operation of the Domain Working Groups which are central to MUFG Americas federated enterprise data management framework. Each Domain Working Group (DWG) contains a cross-functional group of business representatives who are accountable for ensuring that the critical data within that domain a) is defined by standard terms in our enterprise business glossary, b) is properly documented in our metadata repository, c) has the appropriate controls defined and applied (quality checks, etc.), and d) is being remediated as needed to address quality, timeliness, or other issues. As the CDO Domain Coordinator, you will partner with the Lead Data Steward of each DWG to coordinate meetings, support the overall effectiveness of the group, and represent the voice of the CDO. This role is critical to the overall success of our data management framework and provides an ideal vantage point from which to understand and contribute to our efforts to increase the value of our data as a strategic asset for the enterprise.
Major Responsibilities:
For each of their assigned Domain Working Groups (DWGs), the CDO Domain Coordinator will partner closely with the Lead Data Steward and group membership in order to deliver on the following areas and objectives:
General
• Effectively communicate the objectives and benefits of our data strategy to DWG stakeholders to ensure that they understand the importance of their work to the overall enterprise
• Train DWG members on their role and accountabilities relative to the DWG’s, and support their active participation in the group and effectiveness on an on-going basis
• Monitor the ongoing effectiveness of each DWG, escalate issues to the Lead Data Steward and or CDO management, and support remediation of issues as needed
• Develop a strong working knowledge of the data and related products, processes, technology and people such that you can participate actively in group discussions, decision making, etc.
• Domain Working Group Operations
• Partner with the Lead Data Steward of each Domain Working Group to track and prioritize the overall work queue, including request for new terms and definitions, metadata, data quality rules, data quality problem management resolution, etc.
• Work with the Lead Data Steward for each DWG to plan and prepare for group meetings, including ensuring that key members and stakeholders are engaged, materials are prepared, and meeting objectives are clearly articulated and tracked.
• Act as a liaison between each DWG and the appropriate shared services team in the CDO organization, IT, and Architecture to ensure that the flow of work in and out of the DWG is well organized and is leveraging common practices and capabilities.
• Ensure that each Domain Working Group is adhering to enterprise data management policies and standards and using sanctioned tools and practices in their work.
• Provide summary reports for management which highlight the working being made by each working group, key accomplishments, issues or risks, etc.
Qualifications:
• Undergraduate (BA/BS) college degree in an applicable field (business, finance, computer science, etc.)
• 10+ years of experience in banking or other areas of financial services, preferably in complex and global business and technology environments
• 5+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or related functions and an aptitude for understanding and managing detailed and complex data-related concepts (derivations, lineage, controls, etc.)
• Experience in organizations with mature data governance capabilities, including formalized data vocabularies, data control frameworks (quality controls, SLA’s, etc.), metadata management practices, problem management processes, etc.
• Working knowledge of BCBS 239 and experience driving adherence to BCBS 239 Principles is helpful but not required
• Strong ability to develop and maintain long-term positive working relationships with peers, subordinates, and senior management across geographic and cultural boundaries
• Excellent verbal and written skills and ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences; confident communicator and presenter
