The Credits and Incentives Consultant ("Consultant") works with a Team in a fast-paced atmosphere to identify financial assistance and tax savings opportunities for clients. The Consultant will work on a Team with some of the largest companies in the United States to assist them with maximizing financial assistance as they consider capital expansions domestically. The Consultant will work on a Team that routinely corresponds with client directors and the C-Suite to secure information needed to maximize financial assistance. In addition to assisting clients with capital expansions, the Consultant will also collaborate to research issues, perform retroactive credit reviews, amend returns, and determine prospective benefits for state income/franchise tax credits.
The Consultant would gain a wide array of knowledge regarding state and local tax, as many incentives involve sales tax, property tax, income tax, withholding tax, among others. The Consultant would also gain a firm understanding regarding how the largest companies in the United States strategically allocate their capital.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Review statutes and guidelines for various state and local credit and incentive programs that pertain to client projects.
• Qualify and quantify credit and incentive opportunities for client projects.
• Assist Manager with preparing presentations, summaries, schedules, and documentation needed to negotiate with state and local governments in order to maximize incentive offer for client projects.
• Travel to client locations to gather relevant data from client and processes the information.
• Prepare amended returns and applications for various credits and incentives.
• Respond to client inquiries and requests from state & local tax agencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Economics, or Accounting (with minimum 6 accounting hours with GPA of 3.0 or higher)
• Strong academic credentials (minimum Overall 2.8+ GPA)
• Demonstration of leadership experience
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills required
• Background / experience in research or analytical work is highly preferred
OR
• Bachelor's degree and one to three years of work experience preferred.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
