GRS Underwriting Strategy and Performance is seeking highly motivated individuals to engage in a variety of challenging analytics projects. The team’s objective is to support pricing and underwriting risk selection activities across the organization. The team engages with a variety of organizations within GRS, including Underwriting, IT and Finance. Typical candidates have experience with data preparation and analysis, statistical methods and tools, and insurance products. A successful candidate will be organized, creative, and interested in solving business problems using data and analytics. This position is posed for grades 15-16, depending on the qualifications of the candidate.
Responsibilities:
• Develop various predictive models to answer different business problems by using statistical software such as SAS, R etc.
• Prepare and manipulate data by using statistical software such as SAS, SQL, etc.
• Provide statistical and analytical support to the various research teams on special projects
• Utilize quantitative skills to analyze and summarize data, formulate findings and provide recommendations
• Provide recommendations on the appropriate tools and techniques to perform analysis
• Research and propose new statistical and mathematical techniques that are suitable and helpful for solving business related problems
• May lead aspects of special projects
• Lead own work streams of moderate complexity projects with members within and outside team
• Provide thorough and clear documentation of work stream deliverables
• Collaborate with other groups to develop and maintain best practices and standards, including peer reviewing
• Serve as ad hoc resource for less experienced analysts
• Mentor others as assigned and when approached
Qualifications:
• Competencies typically acquired through a Ph.D. degree (in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science or other scientific field of study) and 0-1 professional experience, a Master’s degree (scientific field of study) and 1-2 year of relevant experience or may be acquired through a Bachelor’s degree (scientific field of study) and 3-4 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, R, SQL, Python, etc.).
• Must have strong planning, organizational, analytical, decision making and communication skills.
• Experience managing projects preferred.
• Potential traveling involved.
