Senior Instructional Designer
This senior level position manages and directs multiple large scale learning projects from initiation to closure by following defined standards and using aligned tools to analyze, design, develop, implement and measure moderate to complex courses to support learning initiatives.
Duties and responsibilities
• Defines course objectives or goals, designs appropriate classroom or online learning solutions (formal or informal, classroom or online, etc.) and identifies the best delivery method for the defined learning need
• Parses complex content and concepts into easier-to-understand sections
• Develops appropriate review/test questions and exercises to validate participant understanding of course content
• Distributes draft course materials and solicits feedback; revises materials accordingly
• Evaluates effectiveness of training by assessing scores, costs, and post-class performance
• Arranges, designs, implements and observes usability sessions
• Develops design documents, project timelines and action/communication and evaluation plans
• Conducts research to identify performance and skill gap
• Performs task analyses with subject matter experts (SMEs) and business leaders to identify course objectives, content, requirements, and delivery
• Develops and conducts surveys to evaluate effectiveness of training materials
• Determine resources needed to implement learning solutions
• Assesses, measures, and develops programs to enhance employee performance
Must have qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design
• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional design/development, teaching/training delivery, web design or responsibilities that involve performance improvement initiatives.
The preferred candidate will have experience with onboarding, audio recording, video development, and virtual learning
What else we look for
• Proficiency in multiple delivery channels (including classroom and online) and instructional design methods
• Strong ability to influence/negotiate and consult with requestors and stakeholders including senior level leaders
• Strong presentation, facilitation, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
• Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
• Excellent PC skills with a strong working knowledge of associated software programs, such as flow charting, presentation, e-learning, and computer-based testing programs, Lectora, Camtaskia, Power Point, Word, Excel, and Photoshop
• Ability to manage multiple medium to large projects
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
• Technical knowledge of the training tools used by the training department
