Overview of the Role
Run Janus Henderson Distribution Business Intelligence report and analytics building and distribution process. Create cross-functional reports and analytics that provide insight to the business by developing and executing data-driven support for business strategies. Determine, with the business, the appropriate performance measures to be produced including trends, forecasts, and other metrics. Create polished, executive level reporting and presentations including actionable recommendations and next steps. Champion the importance of data accuracy, compelling storytelling, and ongoing learning. This person will help the Business Intelligence team form partnerships, throughout the firm, to promote innovative brand recognition solutions and add value to strategic efforts. Lastly, the associate is also responsible for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data for all reports and analytics.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage and develop business intelligence reporting and analytics process/relationships.
Develop Business Intelligence framework to provide; 1.) Heightened client experience 2.) Drive sales and marketing effectiveness, support, and analytics for business channels and sellers 3.) Roll out new analytics tools. This includes but is not limited to:
• Build flexibly and adaptably designed data, reporting, and analytics structures from multiple data sources to support reporting and analytics needs
• Work with sales executives to determine appropriate target audiences for new distribution reporting and analytics initiatives.
• Provide reporting and analytic support on assignments designed to acquire, enhance, service, and retain customer relationships.
• Execute previously developed analyses and models related to value-based and behavioral customer segmentation, acquisition, attrition, enhanced cross sell and profitability.
• Execute previously developed statistical testing programs to measure and improve on-going performance of professional development program outcomes, marketing initiatives and campaigns outcomes, market share growth, product duration and diversity, and other strategic initiatives.
• Develops customized and ad hoc reports and analyses based on the needs of the business units and management.
• Analyzes large quantities of data and presents insights and predictions to support management planning, execution and monitoring of business decisions.
• Combines a good level of understanding on how business operates with analytical ability to sift effectively through data available, overlaying all this with the technical competency to illustrate this analysis to senior level stakeholders and the wider business.

• Manage and develop executive and board level reporting and presentations.
Develop reporting, presentations, and processes to effectively report critical business functions to a sophisticated, high risk – high reward audience. This includes but is not limited to:
• Design a process to uphold rigorous quality standards and ensure that all executive – level reporting and BOD presentations disseminate accurate, consistent and timely content.
• Highlight key findings through succinct, compelling storytelling based on rigorous data analysis for executives, Board of Trustees, and Board of Directors.
• Develop and manage trusted strategic partnerships that allow data to be gathered across the entire firm.
• Develops reports for management on the overall performance of business segments and develops metrics to measure various characteristics of the business.

Perform data and business analysis to gain insight into business functions and provide necessary recommendations to management team, technology, and operations. This includes but is not limited to:
• Translate user’s information requirements into data and system specifications, design and implement solutions.
• Collaborate with fellow team members, technology, and operations in the creation of reports and analyses Meta data (i.e. Report summary and definitions, Data definitions, etc.).
• Advanced knowledge of financial services industry and investment products in general, including stocks, bonds, funds, annuities, 401K plans, pension plans.
• Advanced knowledge of the company, including history, investment resources / team / style / process, and fund offerings.
• Stay abreast of trends in the business intelligence and analytics measurement / tracking industry and work to integrate best practices.
• Recommends new processes to improve preparation of performance and management reports and analytics.
• Strong commitment to ensuring team commitments are fulfilled.

• Provide guidance and shares expertise with all levels of the organization.
Supervise process and production of periodic daily / monthly / quarterly performance and management reports and analyses. This includes but is not limited to:
• Oversee the maintenance of sales performance data and information systems associated with the collection, retrieval, and usage of sales performance information.
• Provide Technology and Operations partners with business insight to reproduce complex business models and formulaic methodologies with automated solutions.
• Broaden and heighten others understanding of data quality, underline the importance of proper data mining tactics and help them build successful testing and measurement initiatives.
• Develop re-usable processes and methodologies for delivering analytical models in a structured fashion.
• Administer the maintenance and execution of queries, reports, analyses, and dashboards in various reporting systems.
• Provide technical expertise, and direction related to analytical projects and reporting procedures.
• Willing to step in and assist business partners with difficult problems with a positive, solution oriented attitude.
• Ability to lead clients through complex data projects/requests from idea to implementation.
• Ability to pivot, within a task, to new ideas and thought processes as directed by business needs.

• Advanced reporting, analytics, and statistical skills; experience with industry tools including Cognos, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Tableau, Qlik, R, Python, SPSS, SAS
• Experience with Relational Database (SQL server, Oracle, etc.), and CRM reporting systems (SalesForce.com, etc.)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• 3 to 5 years of experience (financial services industry preferred) with an emphasis in Finance / Modeling / Strategy / Marketing / Sales / Business analyses using various analytic techniques (fit-for-purpose statistical analyses, data analysis/data mining, derived variable creation, analytics sandbox experience)
• Mutual fund industry experience preferred
• Experience communicating business needs and requirements to Technology and Operations partners
• User Acceptance Testing experience – creating realistic test scenarios and test scripts, defining exit criteria, designing testing in a fit-for-purpose manner based on business need.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Analytics / Information Science / Accounting / Finance / Business Administration / Economics / Marketing or equivalent required
• Postgraduate work in Business Administration, Mathematics, or Economics preferred
Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed by:
• Annual Performance Appraisal
• Completion of all assigned Compliance training
Working Environment/Physical Activities
