Job Description
This position is responsible for assisting the Funding Manager in the day-to-day management of the Bank’s borrowings and cash position. In addition, the incumbent will collaborate on all facets of liquidity management including determining daily funding needs, transaction execution, monitoring and reporting.
II. Principal Responsibilities
Works in conjunction with the Funding Manager to develop the daily funding strategy of the Bank and associated reporting in support of Bank goals and objectives.
Develops a thorough understanding of the Federal Reserve account, the activities that impact it and how to determine required Bank funding. Assists in daily transaction processing of fed funds, FHLB advances, brokered deposits and reporting.
Prepares month end reports, analysis and presentations for Funding Manager review.. Develops a working relationship with fed funds brokers, brokered deposit brokers and the FHLB.
Daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting responsibilities. Prepares funding position reports for Treasurer; prepares and approves wire transfers and maintains related documentation; enters trades in treasury accounting system; prepares and tracks FHLB letters of credit.
Assists in production of ALCO/Capital Management/Board of Directors meeting materials relevant to funding and assists in overall preparation of meeting materials as necessary.
Prepares loan collateral listing positions for submission to FHLB Boston. Assists Funding Manager in preparing annual budget for wholesale borrowings.
Supports and cross trains on other Treasury disciplines and initiatives, which includes calculating cost of funds for commercial lenders and responding to lender’s questions on loan pricing alternatives such as swaps or other indices, preparing commercial loan prepayment fee calculations as needed and assisting in providing commercial deposit rate exception pricing.
Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.
Job Requirements
College degree or equivalent work experience required.
2-4 years relevant experience
Four year degree in finance, mathematics, statistics, accounting or similar discipline preferred.
Solid understanding of accounting and/or finance concepts and techniques.
Proficient in interpreting financial results and business indicators to identify and analyze trends.
Superior written, verbal and presentation skills are necessary to effectively communicate with Treasurer, management and staff and to assist in production of monthly reporting materials
Ability to recognize and focus on critical issues; balance and respond to competing needs; manage multiple projects and tasks.
Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Bloomberg
Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy in a multi-task environment.
