We are currently seeking an Accountant for our financial reinsurance area. This role will report to the Director & Actuary, Financial Reinsurance. The primary responsibilities are:
• For the financial re transactions
◦ Prepare the quarterly settlements
◦ Prepare or review/approve the accounting entries for STAT and GAAP reporting
◦ Prepare or review/approve journal vouchers and balance sheet account certifications;
◦ Zero-base business processes, recommend, and implement continuous improvements;
◦ Prepare all quarterly and annual deliverables to the reinsurers
◦ Prepare Department of Insurance quarterly deliverables
◦ Support the team during audits (internal and external)
• For new transactions, work closely with our Office of Accounting Policies to determine the proper accounting
• Prepare and maintain documentation according to AIG standards
• Support any other task related to financial re transactions
Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or in a similar field
• Eight or more years of accounting experience including financial reporting;
• Strong math aptitude and excellent analytical, problem solving and verbal / written communication skills;
• Excellent technical skills including Excel and Access; Mainframe experience is a plus;
• Attention to details, organization, and high level of accuracy are required skills;
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers;
• Prior Statutory and GAAP financial reporting experience and CPA designation a plus;
• Excellent team player.
