Role Value Proposition:
Economic Capital (EC) is a risk management tool used by the Company to make decisions on the amount of capital needed for a company to absorb unexpected losses and remain solvent under stressed conditions. The Economic Capital Production and Reporting team within Global Risk Management is responsible for running the Economic Capital (EC) model as well as the consolidation and reporting of results on a quarterly basis. The EC Production & Reporting team is seeking a Lead Operational Risk Consultant. This position will play a significant role in the calculation, reporting, and communication of EC results as well as identifying areas for process improvements & efficiencies and will partner closely with business stakeholders and other corporate functions including Investment Risk Management, Regional Risk Management, Governance& Reporting, Asset/Liability Management and others.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform various EC calculations, processes, and reporting as part of the quarterly model runs.
• Identify, analyze, and attribute changes in EC results.
• Develop ownership, working knowledge, comprehension, and subject matter competency of various EC concepts, models, and drivers of changes in EC from quarter to quarter based on risk exposures, product types & characteristics, and macro-economic changes.
• Communicate effectively, partner with, and develop strong working relationships with numerous people at all levels of the organization.
• Identify opportunities to improve, streamline, or simplify processes/work.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
• At least 7-10 years of work experience in the financial services industry.
• Excellent time management, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related discipline.
Preferred:
• Experience with or exposure to Economic Capital or other capital frameworks.
• Exposure to investments and insurance liabilities.
• Advanced degree, actuarial designation or CFA.
