Position Title Sr. Portfolio Analyst - Consumer Finance
Location Headquarters-Troy, MI
Job Summary The Consumer Finance Sr. Portfolio Analyst will assist the Portfolio Segment Manager in executing strategies to optimize portfolio performance on the Consumer Finance Loan Portfolio. This role will also assist in analyzing Consumer Lending portfolio acquisitions to minimize credit, and operational and financial risks. The Sr. Portfolio Analyst will provide the Portfolio Segment Manager with analysis and recommendations on portfolio performance from loan boarding to payoff to enhance the customer experience and reduce operational risk. This position will also prepare, analyze and make recommendation for Budget and Forecasts for Consumer Finance portfolios.
Job Responsibilities:
• Prepare and manage project plans for portfolio acquisitions.
• Work closely with banking partners including Imaging, Performing Servicing, HFI, Collections, CEC, Cashiering, Banking Operations, Marketing, etc.) to ensure a smooth and timely conversion or acquisition; Develops and maintain project plan.
• Ensure issues are escalated appropriately; prepare communications necessary to communicate to internal and external customers to ensure a smooth and timely conversion or acquisition.
• Analyze portfolio data, prepare summary reports and make recommendations, develop an implementation plan for the new processes for account management activities and tactics including HELOC’s and Line of Credit Accounts, and developing customer communication for end of draw period and developing strategies for customer outreach programs.
• Responsible for analyzing FICO migration, credit bureau usage, FICO model versions, Vantage score, buy box tiers that will lead to the adaption of to risk based pricing; Works with various departments and competitors to understand the opportunities for policy change, prepares recommendation for Retail Policy Risk Committee and updates credit policy/guidelines, segmentation and monitoring for credit exception performance by geography of portfolio, etc.
• Prepare analysis for peer bank benchmarking, best practices; portfolio inventory model, P&L analysis by product and segments. Review Analyze the portfolio attrition and make recommendations to help control runoff.
• Tracking and Reporting Management: Manage, track and report post-closing/servicing escalations, identify root causes, make recommendations to improve processes.
• Analyze CEC customer call reports for trends and make recommendation for process improvements based on findings.
• Create, maintain, and analyze spreadsheets with various portfolio trends (new loans, pay downs, payoffs, and draws) to assist in the forecasting and budgeting process for the Consumer Finance portfolios. Finance/budget - cost analysis for originations cost per unit.
• Review and understand the roles our partners play in servicing our portfolio’s; review partner’s procedures as required for accuracy and make recommendations to improve processes; ensure our partners are informed of changes to product. Assist Consumer Finance managers in portfolio analysis as needed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Complete all required compliance training. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to Flagstar's internal compliance policies and procedures. Take responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree required preferably in Business or related field
• 10 years of Consumer Lending experience (origination/servicing)
• 2 years of Credit Risk and analysis experience
• 2 years Budget and Financial Planning experience
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Word
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• Demonstrated ability to manage diverse work streams
• Demonstrated knowledge of portfolio acquisitions preferred
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Up to 10% travel from home office
