Position Description
Reporting to Analytics Manager, primary responsibility of this role is to support Ally's Auto Asset Management strategic objectives through data analytics. This role will identify business challenges and opportunities for improving asset performance and solve for them using data analytics to make strategic or tactical recommendations. This position will own analysis related to business performance as well as identify and execute potential opportunities for improving asset performance, such as strategic asset sales.
The ideal candidate must be passionate about delivering results, must be an innovative and strategic thinker, willing to challenge status quo, can learn quickly, is self-motivated, detail oriented, and can sift through voluminous amounts of information to pinpoint which items are relevant to understanding business results. They will be able to apply knowledge of business and balanced judgment in interpretation of data (analytics). Demonstrate an understanding of and the ability to analyze quantitative information presented in a variety of formats with limited turnaround times.
Job Responsibilities
• Manage and execute periodic sale of Ally assets, from buyer due diligence process, internal valuation exercise to final closure of sale
• Develop crisp presentations on analysis and routinely present to key stakeholders and executives in Operations, Finance, Legal, Risk etc.
• Co-ordinate between cross-functional groups (operations, compliance, risk etc.) to identify and align operational performance with corporate financial results
• Identify potential risks and opportunities in portfolio performance at a process level using data mining and analytics and provide recommendations to business leadership and other support groups
Qualifications
Required:
• A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics or similar discipline with quantitative focus
• 3 - 5 years of experience in the financial services industry, with knowledge of (or exposure to) portfolio servicing operations in consumer finance
• Minimum 3 years of practical experience working with large datasets with SAS and/or SQL
• Advanced knowledge MS Excel and PowerPoint
• Candidate should possess outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to details
• Quick learner and has demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and execute small to medium scale projects
• Work well within a team of analysts and collaborate with individuals with technical and non-technical backgrounds
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present material to senior executives
• Ability to work effectively in fast paced environment with tight deadlines
Preferred:
• Experience in consumer automotive finance industry
• Advanced knowledge in developing queries and procedures in SAS (ex. EG) and SQL
