Job Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Information Modeling, the Information Modeling Analyst is responsible for the naming and description of key data elements and concepts, as part of MUFG’s enterprise Business Information Model (BIM). Responsible for the enterprise business metadata in Collibra, which is our system of record for enterprise data terminology (business glossary). Provides consultation to stakeholders in the areas of data (domains) assigned to them. Projects assigned impact enterprise-wide systems. The objective of this role is to facilitate a shared understanding of critical data across MUFG operating companies, functional areas, and geographies and thereby enable our stakeholders to easily find, understand, trust, and appropriately use the data they need to support their business objectives.
Major Responsibilities:
The Information Modeling Analyst is responsible for partnering with a wide variety of stakeholders across lines of business, operations (esp. Risk Management, Compliance, and Finance), architecture and technology, both within the Americas and in collaboration with MUFG Head Office, in order to deliver on the following areas and objectives:
• Information Modeling
◦ Support the ongoing advancement of our Business Information Model (“BIM”), including the ongoing development of terms and definitions for our taxonomy of data domains and sub-domains, and underlying business elements
◦ Actively engage with key stakeholders across the business to identify and address gaps in our current information models and business glossary content.
◦ Actively engage with Enterprise Architecture and Data Architecture teams to support alignment between our BIM and related conceptual, logical and physical data models
◦ Establish and report key metrics/KPIs to management which evidence progress and challenges in our information modeling capabilities
• Governance
◦ Support the implementation and ongoing evolution of the business information modeling governance framework including the development of policies, procedures, roles, controls, metrics/KPIs and oversight routines
◦ Work with the Chief Data Office data management functional resources and key stakeholders across the business to perform root cause analysis of issues, data quality defects, and MRIA’s that relate to the information model and its associated governance framework.
• Strategy
◦ Enable our information modeling strategy and objectives, by supporting the definition and implementation of an effective operating model with clearly defined roles, accountability, and engagement points across key stakeholder groups and roles
Qualifications
Additional Information:
• This position typically requires a degree from a four-year college (e.g., B.A., B.S.) in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
• Experience in organizations with mature data governance capabilities, including standardized data vocabularies and related capabilities (business glossaries, data dictionaries, etc.)
• Direct experience developing standardized data vocabularies across large organizations and multiple business units is strongly preferred
• Experience with business metadata solutions (e.g. Collibra, Adaptive, etc.) is desired
• Strong ability to develop and maintain long-term positive working relationships with peers, subordinates, and senior management across geographic and cultural boundaries
• Excellent verbal and written skills and ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences; confident communicator and presenter
• 3+ years’ experience with data analysis, modeling, design or development, with experience in banking or other areas of financial services, and in complex and global business and technology environments
• 2+ years of business analysis and requirements gathering experience
