The Meetings & Events Team (METS) provides Capital Group’s individual internal lines of business with meeting planning consultation and advisory services. Our vision is to be “trusted advisors with global business insight and industry expertise who design strategic and innovative meetings & events.” The team oversees 350+ meetings and events annually, which include company management meetings, research trips, internal/external board meetings, retreats, strategy, recognition, teambuilding and milestone events.
As a Meetings and Events Manager based in Los Angeles, you will lead a team of corporate meeting planners responsible for full-cycle planning and execution of programs primarily in the United States, and Europe and Asia. Additionally, as a member of the Office Services leadership team, you will have broad responsibilities for setting goals and objectives for the department as well as long-term, strategic planning and performance management process for associates.
Responsibilities:
• Leadership of the meeting planning team based in Southern California, who plans over 350 business meetings and events annually across Capital Group departments and across the globe
• Provide leadership to the team, through managing performance, managing vendors, driving strategy and operations and staying current with business needs. Inspires, motivates and engages team to do their best work.
• Manage workflow and workload of team, aligning individual strengths/skills with client and business needs
• Collaborates, develops and implements a comprehensive and effective service strategy in line with Capital Group objectives and current with meeting industry standards/trends
• Manage and report on team budget
• Forms strong partnerships with internal clients, vendors and across the department
• Effectively engages team members, sets the tone for the group, drives business initiatives and challenges him/herself as a leader
Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years’ meeting planning/architecture and event design experience including demonstrated managerial experience coaching and leading experienced teams
• Demonstrated track record and proven leadership, including implementing a strategic vision, setting annual goals, developing action plans, and owning end-to-end processes
• Strong program and project management skills, including influencing skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables efficiently
• Excellent communicator and presenter with proven success in developing client relationships and managing client expectations
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze problems, leverage external networks to benchmark and enhance solutions, challenge the status quo and seek dynamic solutions
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
