This is an investment role that will focus on supporting Capital Group’s Vehicle Flexibility initiative, and will contribute to the investment process through ideas generation for investment grade corporate bond and core strategies. The ideal candidate will have prior experience independently replicating fixed income portfolios as well as strong market, sector, and technical skills. He or she will combine independent thinking with a collaborative instinct and working style. This will include drawing on strong analytical, communication and influencing skills to enhance the overall process and investment dynamic.
Major Responsibilities:
Help drive Capital Fixed Income Investors’ portfolio replication initiative by contributing to overall strategy development and implementation for portfolios
• Work with relevant mandate and fund portfolio managers to manage replication of Fixed Income institutional accounts
• Ensure timely and accurate execution of investment strategies across the vehicles
• Leverage knowledge and expertise in collaboration across various internal groups
• Develop and evolve processes for delivering solutions to a wide range of clients
• Generate and implement investment ideas for investment grade corporate bond and core strategies accounts, with the goal of contributing to excellent investment results.
• Create models/thesis/insights to help shape top down strategy and individual portfolio construction
• Develop and regularly share market views
• Influence others by demonstrating strong investment ability and communicating and engaging with colleagues
• Provide intra-day updates on investment grade corporate bond and core strategies to portfolio managers, analysts, and traders
Key Relationships:
• Fixed income portfolio managers, traders, and analysts
• Internal resources, including FIPAG, QRA, RQS and other groups involved with portfolio replication and Vehicle Flexibility
Skills/Qualifications:
• 5-10 years of experience in the investment management industry, ideally in an investment strategist or replication role; will have experience working with fixed income investments
• Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of index or active investment strategy replication, securities and investment business, and Capital Group’s investment process
• Strong academic credentials including an advanced degree in a quantitative field. A CFA is also preferred
• Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of high complexity, ambiguity and diversity
• Demonstrates ability to collaborate and develop/maintain working relationships inside and outside the organization to enable effective completion of business objectives
• Demonstrates sound judgment in resolving complex issues in a practical manner
• Demonstrates effective and influential written and oral communication skills with a diverse group of associates and senior business leaders
