The Digital Writer will make an impact by creating effective digital content that represents Capital Group’s brand, as s/he is responsible for ensuring the brand values are meaningfully implemented across marketing initiatives and experiences. S/he will be expected to deliver customer-centric, engaging, and measurable user experiences and customer journey narratives. All this is done in support of a broad product portfolio, for a range of audiences.
The Digital Writer partners with business stakeholders and collaborates closely with creative and technical teams to write and edit online content. They write experientially to immerse users in Capital Group’s digital channels. The successful writer will write fast, accurately, boldly and exhibit a strong, yet flexible voice that connects emotionally with users across our ecosystem. The Digital Writer must have extensive digital writing and editing experience, understand the changing trends in our industry, and be highly motivated in advocating for clarity, brevity, and simplicity in the language they use.
Responsibilities
• Write short-form copy that delivers on digital usability, persuasion, brand, and customer delight requirements, ensuring messaging consistency and alignment to journey stages
• Craft smart, engaging copy that reveals industry and personal benefits in what are otherwise dense, technical, and marketing content dumps
• Translate complex academic research into crisp and engaging web copy meant to serve in marketing campaigns
• Work closely with content strategy, digital and creative teams in developing content, while championing digital writing best practices
• Contribute to strategies for increasing traffic, such as participating in headline discussions, monitoring analytics, contributing to tests, etc. Increased discoverability in search and social.
• Edit content to increase keyword optimization/density and craft SEO friendly title tags and meta descriptions.
• Ensure quality of content by focusing on consistency and accuracy, spelling and punctuation, visual and style standards, branding and corporate editorial guidelines, other applicable policies and legal requirements.
Qualifications
• BA with minimum 5-7 years of writing for a digital media outlet or digital in-house group
• Demonstrated ability to create engaging content for the web and social media
• Demonstrated experience in researching, interviewing, writing, and editing
• Mastery of digital content best practices and experience
• Understanding of HTML, CSS and code structure
• Experience using Social Media Tools, applications, and content marketing platforms – such as Hootsuite and Percolate
• Ability to prepare images for publication on websites and social media
• Mastery of content management systems and project management software
• Knowledge of financial industry or experience writing for a technically complex and/or regulated industry
