Job Summary
The Technical Advisory team is responsible for ensuring that our US GAAP, International and Insurance Statutory accounting policies and practices are in compliance with current guidance and standards and consistent with industry practice.
This key director role directly manages a team of four professionals and:
• Provides leadership to the team’s efforts in forming the Company’s position on proposed and recently issued accounting and reporting matters.
• Researches accounting literature and applying to new or infrequent business transactions.
• Consults on complex transactions.
• Authors global accounting policies and other key corporate level documentation.
• Collaborates closely with senior business partners throughout the Company including Financial Accounting & Reporting, Financial Planning & Analysis and Corporate Development, Investments and Law.
• This leader will have significant direct interaction with executive leadership and other key stakeholders.
Other Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Manages direct reports and responsible for handling personnel actions including performance reviews, salary recommendations, and coordination of staff training and development.
2. Partners with corporate customers to address accounting queries and to ensure accounting policies are being applied consistently.
3. Monitors new and emerging accounting guidance, informing management on these topics.
4. In collaboration with team members, is responsible for implementation of new GAAP, IFRS and Statutory accounting standards, including coordination with impacted functional areas, internal documentation and interaction with external auditors.
5. Researches trends and developments in accounting and in the insurance industry, commenting to regulators based on impacts to the Company.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

1. Thorough knowledge of complex accounting principles, practices and procedures as well as GAAP and other Statutory accounting procedures.
2. Ability to effectively lead, coach and develop the Technical Advisory group while encouraging creativity and innovation.

4. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's Degree, preferably in accounting or finance, CPA desirable.
2. Typically a minimum of nine to twelve years related work experience.
