Job Description Summary
As part of the ALM/Hedging group, the Financial Process Engineering team will integrate asset, derivative and liability models to provide valuation, forecasts, and strategy projections for the General Account. Optimizes business performance by enhancing the alignment between business processes and IT, to build and sustain a process-managed ALM organization, with a focus on the human, organizational, and value stream aspect of business processes and their transformation.
Responsibilities
• Collect and analyze process data to initiate, develop, and recommend business practices and procedures that focus on improved analytics, increased productivity, and reduced costs.
• Identify business performance metrics to ensure that continuous, sustained improvement takes place across the ALM department.
• Lead the design of the department's overall process structure, including creating a process hierarchy that streamlines processes and eliminates redundancy.
• Establish process-related policies, standards, governance and methodologies to enable the business to seamlessly adopt a process culture.
• Interact regularly with executive management and advocate for process innovation.
• Drive process improvement initiatives throughout the ALM and Finance organization, extending to vendors and downstream users as appropriate.
• Implement automated processes for all aspects of ALM, including investment analytics, trade processing, and hedge design.
• Analyze and measure the effectiveness of existing business processes and develop sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable business process improvements.
• Collaborate with IT, Finance, Actuarial, and other areas throughout the firm to ensure that ALM processes are compatible with firm objectives and technology environment.
• Act as a resource for colleagues.
• May lead projects or project steps within a broader project, or have accountability for ongoing activities/objectives.
• Determine how new information technologies can support reengineering business processes.
• Research best business practices within and outside the organization to establish benchmark data.
• Develop departmental plans, including business, production, operational, and organizational priorities.
• Control resources and policy formation in area of responsibility.
• Evaluate the cost effectiveness of various major initiatives and adjust projects to adhere to budget requirements.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, data analytics, or related field, plus 15 years of relative experience (or 10 years of experience with Graduate degree).
• Extensive experience with accounting, investment, and actuarial processes and systems
• Deep understanding of process engineering
• Six Sigma certification (or working towards) (e.g. Master Black Belt, Black Belt)
• Experience in LEAN or other quality control/process improvement methodologies
• Advanced skills in one or more of the following; benchmarking, business process analysis and reengineering, change management and measurement, or process-driven system requirements
• Strong relationship management skills for extensive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with asset liability management processes in insurance or banking
