Business Systems Analyst

Define business processes and system alignment. Translate business requirements into system definitions and solutions. Strategic partner, acting as liaison between the user community and the technical applications development staff (may include offshore staff). Resolve system problems to ensure customer processes run smoothly. Document business processes, training procedures, standard operating procedures, project status, etc. Implement system alignment with business processes.
Essential Functions
• Technical and implementation focus is on providing standard applications to resolve business needs/issues.
• Participate in identifying business system requirements and related business/application solutions for a specific business need.
• Gather customer requirements for customized system solutions and provide alternative solutions.
• Write and maintain system documentation
• Provide training and support directly to customers.
Job Complexities
• Work on requirements or problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
• Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate
• Follow department processes and procedures and may make recommendations to improve these processes.
• Validate and/or create Quality Assurance Test Cases and/or perform testing.
Supervision Received or Extended
• Work under general supervision of more experienced Business Systems Analysts.
• Actively contributes to the results of a team and work towards achieving team goals and objectives.
• Use expertise of more senior level Business Systems Analysts and leverages additional resources to confirm solution or explore customized applications as a solution.
• No supervision of others
Knowledge and Skills/Technology Used
• Requires basic knowledge of general business environment/operation and has general cost benefit awareness.
• Solid working knowledge of standard features/functions of one or more application to field, analyze and resolve customer issues/problems.
• Good written and oral communication skills in order to define parameters to meet business requirements.
• Identify/receive problem, research alternatives, prepare presentations, drive solutions, test to confirm, gain consensus, and implement solutions for defined business processes.
• Create documentation of business processes, training procedures, and standard operating procedures.
• Has basic understanding of Data Analysis and/or relational databases.
• Has basic understanding of system integrations and supporting technologies.
• Standard Microsoft Office skills
Preferred Skills
• Implementation or working experience with Duck Creek / Guidewire technology
• Experience in Insurance Domain (Home / Auto)
Typical Education
• Typically requires BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Typical Range of Experience
• Typically 2-5 years of directly related experience
