At CoBank, our Lead Relationship Manager functions as an Executive Director responsible for working as part of the Debt Capital Markets team with lending groups to successfully originate, structure, market and close Capital Markets transactions for CoBank customers and prospects. This role develops and maintains strong working relationship with investors including the Farm Credit System, commercial banks and institutional investors to bring consistent financial partners to CoBank’s agented syndications. Delivers value-added structuring, pricing, syndication, and secondary market strategies. Provides key loan market, private placement, bond, and other capital markets analysis and perspective. Mentors and coaches other staff, and may manage some staff. Attends customer meetings, industry events and customer visits.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or relevant discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience preferably in banking, financial services industry or agriculture or appropriate combination of education and experience.
• 3-5 years of management experience, preferably in a banking or financial services industry.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s or MBA.
• Experience with syndications and loan participations and negotiating acceptable structures on large, complex credits.
• Experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with external contacts, including customers, prospects, Farm Credit associations, existing and prospective debt investors, boards, and attorneys.
• Knowledge of technical standards in target industries.
• Knowledge of regional and national regulatory requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Moderate to extensive travel required.
