Purpose of the role
This role sits within the Middle Office Accounting team at Man Numeric in Boston. The role's primary responsibility is to lead and oversee a small team of Operations Analysts. Their primary responsibilities are to maintain internal shadow books and records and to reconcile to those of custodians, prime brokers, and fund administrators. The ideal candidate must have exceptional attention to detail, the ability to prioritize, and strong communication skills. This role will report to the Head of Numeric Middle Office Accounting.
Specific responsibilities
Perform reconciliation oversight of NAVs, share positions, and cash transactions
Ensure team's deadlines are met and work is completed timely and accurately
Liaise with the fund administrators, custodians, and prime brokers to reconcile discrepancies
Ownership of client and investor capital processing and ensure accurateness of trading timing with portfolio managers
Collaborate with other teams on projects and firm wide initiatives
Support new business, transitions and migration projects both internally and with external Service Providers
Involvement in the production and consolidation of updates to the Fund Boards on a Quarterly basis
Ensure the quality and effectiveness of the pricing governance and controls are maintained through identification and mitigation of pricing risks and the communication/documentation of any enhancements to the framework
Identify and deliver on process improvement opportunities and communicate enhancements to management and other internal teams
Technical competencies
Degree level education in a financial discipline required
Experience in Operations, ideally as a Fund Accountant, at a leading investment manager, custodian bank, or fund administrator essential
Strong academics ideally a mathematics/numerical related degree
Knowledge of a broad range of investment products preferred
Problem solving skills the ability to analyse and challenge conventional thought processes and use experience and/or intuition to create pragmatic solutions
Proficient in use of Excel and MS Office required
Communication, organisation and presentation skills together with the ability to confidently deal with multiple senior stakeholders
Capable in chairing and presenting meetings; recording, co-ordinating and tracking actions
