Job Description
Currently, we are seeking a talented Sr. Financial Reporting Analyst to join the Corporate Division based in Newport Beach, CA.
The Corporate Division supports the goals and initiatives of all other divisions throughout the company and its subsidiaries. These departments include: Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Corporate Development, Public Affairs, Safety & Security, Legal & Compliance. The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst will join the Financial Reporting and Analysis team of a leading financial services company celebrating 150 years of empowering success for its policyholders and clients.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the preparation of U.S. GAAP financial statements and analysis on a quarterly and annual basis for Pacific LifeCorp and subsidiaries. The position will require significant interaction with Corporate and Divisional financial professionals to ensure that the financial statements are complete and accurate. The position will also require research and documentation of complex accounting policies and recommending best practices and alternative considerations to senior management. Other responsibilities include leading or participating in accounting projects with the goal of providing innovative solutions, ensuring that the controls over financial reporting adhere to the Company’s ICFR standards and interaction with the Company’s internal and external auditors.
Additional responsibilities include:
•Prepare complete financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP standards.
•Prepare disclosure checklists and support binders.
•Work closely with finance professionals in each of the applicable Divisions.
•Prepare and/or review financial statement analytic packages which analyze the financial results to ensure understanding and accuracy of the applicable disclosures.
•Actively lead or participate in accounting projects.
•Ensure controls over financial reporting are appropriately documented and procedures are in accordance with the ICFR standards.
FACTORS FOR SUCCESS:
•3+ years accounting experience.
•Good knowledge of accounting principles and regulations to maximize compliance with GAAP, ICFR, SEC, etc.
•Experience preparing financial statements and completing disclosure checklists.
•Good technical, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to deal effectively and coordinate with finance individuals in Divisions, Subsididaries and Corporate.
•Ability to work independently and proactively.
•Experience with Wdesk preferred.
•CPA required and Big4 experience preferred.
